Love Is

I read a blog about what love is?

I write blogs about my family. I would be remiss if I never shared this couple with you.

For full disclosure-- although I've never experienced love-- my family is rampant with couples like this-- (i.e. there was never a divorce in our family until this generation.) My parents were married and madly in love for sixty years. My twin sister has been married since we were fifteen and I am 63. My older brother has been married for 48 years. My younger brother for 28 and it goes on and on.

This is my Uncle Elmer and Aunt Mary Jean.

You may remember -- some years ago when I was newly blind and struggling-- they helped me. Aunt Mary Jean was my fathers sister.

This couple has five of their own . There were twelve in my fathers clan alone. Aunt Mary Jean had four other siblings.

They loved all of their nieces and nephews as though we were their own. All of my Aunts and Uncles were like that.

I've been witness to their struggles. Times when they've had losses we didn't think they could recover from. Times it would have been easy to look somewhere else for comfort-- but instead they came together.

Uncle Elmer told me once-- he never made eye contact with other women. He said that is what starts it all. He says you can be polite to other women-- but never start a conversation that can be on any level considered "racy" and don't say anything you wouldn't say with your wife right at your side. And always compliment your wife to other women. They will know right away you are not "interested."

Three simple rules. It kept the women at bay. More importantly it was a reminder for himself-- he had a good wife at home.

Aunt Mary Jean told me-- she never did anything special that she knew of. She just met him at the door with a smile when he got home. (She never told me if she was dressed or not) LOL

Sixty Two years. WOW!

I guess a picture is worth a thousand words.

Judge for yourself if this couple has achieved love or not!

It looks so easy doesn't it?

I wish it for you! . . . Have a great day

Thanks Ann, When I was a child they were the same as they are now. When I talk to my cousins we all remember the same thing-- happy people. Just goes to show-- being rich doesn't mean having lots of money.

Hi Spunky: Wonderful blog and loved all the pics. It's interesting that sometimes both your Aunt and Uncle have their glasses on and sometimes both of them don't. I hope they get to see this blog. Sorry you've never been in love, but hope it happens for you some day.
