There is no racism in the USA

Announcement from the White House that Malia Obama is to accept a place at Harvard after taking a gap year was reported on FOX.

Malia is the eldest of the Obamas’ two daughters. She’s 17 and a senior at the exclusive Sidwell Friends School in the District of Columbia.

She’s set to graduate high school in June, then celebrate her 18th birthday on the Fourth of July.

Obama recently said he turned down an invitation to speak at Malia’s high school graduation because his emotions would get the best of him.

The viewers of this hate channel responded in the only way they know how.

This is a small selection of the racist abuse levelled at the of the POTUS - but there is no racism in the USA. Some of the comments will not post here as this site would not allow the wording but one word (Ni**a) abounds.
How can this be acceptable in a civilised democracy?

How bloody disingenuous can you get?

The headline is NOT about FOX.

The headline is about the rampant racism directed against not just the first black President but his family. FOX viewers are just representative of this racism.

I do not find many things offensive, contrary to the mantra of the right those of us on the left are rarely offended - we leave the 'butt hurt' feelings to right wingers with thin skins and fragile egos; a certain orange hued narcissist springs to mind.
If you choose to remain ignorant by simply using media that reinforces your prejudices then that is your prerogative but do not expect me to follow the same path. As Nietzsche said 'People do not want to hear the truth because they do not want their illusions destroyed'.

OMG that is shocking. The racism the Obama's have had to endure for the past eight years is unbelievable. When he was first elected the insults and racist jokes about him and his wife even on this very site were heartbreaking.

There are all sorts out there.

Racism is not going away, not in our lifetime.

We may be disgusted at those who posted the racist comments. but let's not lose sight of the bigger picture of far we have come, even though there's still a ways to go.

What I do find interesting, is the probability that everyone of those tweeters will vote Republican. As no Republican will stand against them, and even if they disagree will justify their right.

I do not get upset. I simply get more determined to call out racism and other forms of bigotry wherever and whenever I see it.

As painful as it is, yes.

In the example you cite it would appear to be inter-racial racism.

I don't thing Patel is an Irish surname.

Somehow the original post has been completely altered by the omission of 6 further examples from the FOX comment section and now it has lost its main thrust.
I am interested to see that the usual personal attacks and slanging matches have been entered into and the main point has been completely lost.

The DAUGHTER of the President was personally attacked in the most egregiously racist terms. Ni**er , Monkey, Mudslime are not ones anyone should condone but yet again we see the standard defences trotted out.
1. Belittle it -- it is ONLY 'twitter' and there will always be some on there. Nope; it is the comment section of a major News channel. The number and the level of racist remarks was such that even FOX pulled the comments on this article. The comments were too racist for FOX --think on that one.
2.Deflection- But the British have been racist in the past /are racist now. So what? That excuses the knuckle draggers on FOX news comments ? How?
3. Counter accusations - But blacks are racist too. Once again that is no excuse - just a justification for behaviour which is unjustifiable and inexcusable.
4. The American exceptionalism card - outsiders may not comment.
Bull sh*t racism should be called out wherever and whenever it occurs; and by whomever encounters it.

The fact remains that there were literally HUNDREDS of comments of a personal and racist nature against a 17 year old Girl whose only 'crime' was to be educationally successful whilst being the daughter of the first Non-White President of the USA. That sucks and there is absolutely NO WAY in which it can be or should be defended.

I've been to the US quite a bit.

IMHO the people here are fairly representative of Americans in our age group.
