Most people don't know the Star Spangled Banner beyond the First Stanza.

There is speculation that the third stanza contains verses noting that the phrase “hireling and slave” refers to black slaves hired to fight on the side of the British during the War of 1812:

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

the rarely sung third stanza of the anthem  noting that the phrase “hireling and slave” refers to black slaves hired to fight on the side of the British during the War of 1812: There is also speculation that the verses refer to the mercenaries and kidnapped sailors that the British used to fight their battles.

Either way, Francis Scott Key did not have the enslaved community in mind when he wrote "O'er the land of the FREE."

Are you serious? Most American kids don't know the FIRST stanza of the National Anthem. You can thank the easily offended, cry-baby left for this predicament. Slavery ended a century and a half ago.

If the words to the National Anthem bother the left so much then why did they wait 150+ years to take notice?

Cry me a river.

And don't tell them their wealth, excellent jobs, prominence and success in the United States does not qualify them to claim they are "oppressed ". Quote

Sometimes, a person who has wealth, excellent jobs, prominence, and success are in a better position to stand up or "take the knee" for peers who are oppressed. People who are oppressed are often more focused on survival

Wake up dude, it's not about social justice or patriotism anymore. Trump changed the game.

On Sunday the NFL said SCREW YOU PRESIDENT WHITE TRASH.

Bravo

"President White Trash?" Isn't that remark a little racist? Yeah, I thought so.

Since there are only 4 stanzas in the poem how could it be the fifth? Nope it is still the third stanza.
Even America the Beautiful (original) would not be allowed as the National Anthem because of words like "Thine alabaster cities gleam" and "Till nobler men keep once again Thy whiter jubille". Heck America the Beautiful had to be changed two times before the Libitards were sorta of happy with the outcome.

Canada's National Anthem has been changed a few times by Libitards but I still sing the old version.

I will be the last person to claim any kind of musical savvy, I can dance but that's about it. Nonetheless, I really want to know why these athletes who take a knee during the national anthem are considered to be so disrespectful.

I understand that they are not standing erect, hand over heart, but they are not burning the flag, spitting on it, or even turning their backs on it. It terms of protest, it seems to me that this peaceful gesture is about as innocuous as it could possibly get. It seems to me more an action of sorrow than hostility.

I wonder how many football fans at home will actually stand for the National Anthem. Most likely, they are sitting in their comfort chair with beer in hand while munching on pizza.
