Oops, forgot to make a comment with that laugh! Nice story about you meeting Lucy, lucky you! Now I know where your handle comes from, I had no idea you actually collected fossils.

Fossil_Fetcher replies on 7/17/2016 9:19 am:
Yep, after I retired from the Army I taught High School and tried to operate the fossil business on the side. I finally conceded it was far too much work and the market was pretty skimpy at the time. The big money is in pre-cretaceous stuff up in Montana and the Green formation along the Canadian border.

That picture made me laugh. My grandpa was a farmer and so was my dad. They never took their shirts off while working, so their arms and face were dark, but every other area was white. Oh, and they had a white area on their forehead where their cap shaded it.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Well, we could almost have been families. At least you didn't make fun of my tan...or did you?

What a memorable way to spend the day on first face-to-face meet -
'Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
I'm feeling good..' [Michael Buble] comes drifting into mind - good for you

How very nice. However, as we walked the beach on Honeymoon Island the only song in my head was one which would help me get to sleep quickly. I had just driven more than 1250 miles - stopping only for gas and coffee. I was closer to a Zombie than a human.

Our first SFF meeting stories are enjoyable.

I remember when Alfie and I met for the first time and he came to Indiana to see if what we thought was happening was happening.

Truthfully I never gave a thought of why your handle. Interesting!

I have always enjoyed seeing fossils and trying to imagine how long ago that being lived.

Fossil_Fetcher replies on 7/17/2016 2:39 pm:
Well, clearly what you thought was happening WAS happening 'cause I saw the wedding pictures.

Yep, the business was "Fossilfetcher" and I kept the handle after the business closed. You'd be surprised at the number of people who thought it was associated with the age of the people in SFF, i.e. I was searching for a fossil to fetch.

I had the pleasure of meeting you and Lucy awhile after you were married. Both of you were hosting an SFF bash in St. Pete's, FL. It was a great time and you sure know how to throw a party!!

I remember it well, Salsa. We didn't really "throw a party." The guests made it a party.
