Whats Wrong With This Story I heard a News Story on the Radio the other day about a Lady who had her Pocket Book stolen out of Her Car. The Police Report listed it as being a $400 Purse, $200 Wallet in the Purse and $800 in Cash in the Wallet. Also listed as being in the Wallet was Her EBT Food Stamp Card. Can all of you tell me whats wrong with this story? I sure hope that the Thieves did not brak the Window in the New Car that She proabably was driving. |

Correct, something very wrong with that story. No one follows up on the financial situation of hand-out beneficiaries?

Maybe the cash was her monthly money for rent, utilities etc. and she could have burrowed a friend or relative's car to take care of getting things paid. Sometimes folks in this situation don't have bank accounts and pay things in cash. Just a thought. It could have been drug or gambling money as well or cash earned under the table. I have known individuals in each of these situations. We should not judge by appearances only as they can be deceptive. Spiritwoman ^i^

On a related note, low income earners in Calgary are selling their discounted transit passes. A low income earner pays $44 for an annual pass. A regular adult pass is $94 a month. The transit cops nailed 17 people last year when they did id checks. I'm sure there are lots more out there doing the same thing.

Lots of welfare abuses here too. One morbidly obese man got the government to pay to remodel his entire bathroom as he was too overweight to step into the bathtub. What kind of a special bathroom sink would an overweight person need anyway, but they paid for that too. How about paying for a gym membership or a dietician instead??

Roses so the stories of 2 men that live in my area and are both are on disability are both untrue. One of them cuts firewood, splits it and hauls it. The other one strips old shingles off of roofs and then puts new shingles on houses. Meanwhile I know of a young lady that has Fibermaliga, Lupus, Arthritis on Her Spine and a Cyst on Her Brain and has been turned down twice for disability. She has to clean one room a day in her house because if she cleaned more than one room she could not get out of bed for 3 days. I guess in your mind this young lady does not deserve disability. Even after working over half of her life as a Nurse. Roses Judge Not Least You Be Judged

Moondoggie I dont see a whole lot of logic here. Why would a person be carrying around $800 in cash when we live in a world of debit cards. There has to be something missing from this story. When I hear stories like this I realize that people who get assistance from the gov't live better than me.

One woman on disability (for a sore knee) was able to convince the government to buy her a very expensive motorized scooter costing several thousand dollars I think. She sees me out walking all the time and told me I should get one too. I told her I don't need one, but she said I should get one anyway because 'it's free' and all I would have to do is get my doctor to sign a form saying I needed one. OMG all the abuses of taxpayers' money is unbelievable. The morbidly obese man I told you about before, well he is on disability and takes taxis everywhere he goes, all paid for by the government. I asked him why on earth do they pay for taxis when you can take the bus, and he said he is too obese to fit on a bus seat.

Bob you have to understand where grouch is comming from he did not get his Free Cheese last month and he is Pizzed Off. Hopefully his entitlement check will enable him to buy cheese in March.
