I Believe in Every Drop of Rain That Falls......

........There are some in SFF that view me as un-caring, have no compassion and have very little morals. I even have been told by many that they will no longer read my blogs. Well thats OK as there are many that I don't read. If the blog title does not interest me I seldom open it. Well I do believe I need to define my belief system as many seemed confused about me. Each one of us are what we believe in, no more no less. I am no exception.

.......#1 I believe America is the most exceptional Country the world has ever seen. We do more for others around the world than anybody. No where in history has a Country been this benevolent.

.......#2 I believe that we are a Judeo-Christian Society that has a values system superior to any other. We tolerate other value systems to the extent that they do not compromise ours.

.......#3 I believe our Government has gotten way to big to the detriment of the individual. Excessive taxation is legalized thievery.

.......#4 I believe that affirmative action for minorities is wrong as it mocks the real achievement of members of those minorities.

.......#5 I believe that the sorry statistics of our educational system is the direct result of liberal policies, Teachers unions and not allowing prayer in Schools.

.......#6 I believe America is not a racist society. Those that blame crime, out of wed lock births and education failures on racism are the only racist we have.

......#7 I believe the Military has done more to preserve freedom and liberty, fostered more goodness than all the University professors and Artist combined.

......#8 I believe that a good Man and a good Marriage does more to a women's happiness and fulfillment than any career could ever do.

......#9 I believe in Bilingual education. Many countries in the world speak at least 2 languages. To not do so further insulates us in the world. English needs to be our primary/business language but not our only one.

......#10 I believe Abortion on Demand is wrong. Along with same sex marriages, schools giving out condoms, and flag burnings.

......Finally I am in the opinion that America is a Right-Centrist society. No far left politician has ever been elected President. The far left are so out of touch so elite they have no clue of what Americans are and what they hold dear.......

.......Those disagreeing with my beliefs are certainly entitled to and I welcome any and all input as I have never banned or deleted or said your comments were not welcome. There are many more beliefs that I believe in but these were the biggies.....

60min--

There have been times when I thought you were out of touch and not compassionate.

Also--I've seen you change your stand!

Times when I've completely agreed with you and times when I haven't.

To me--you spur a lively debate.

I don't take politics personal--but I like the debates--want to gather as much information--as possible in order to make an informed decision when I go into the voting booth.

I missed you when you took your short break.

To me--you're a lot like Fresh Emerald--You can get my blood boiling--and get me all stirred up--one day--and I'll end up liking you the next!

Brings an interesting layer to the SFF Community. Diversity is a good thing!

Very very good blog 60. I continue to read your blogs because you always construct them with intelligence and get right to the point. Some seem to try to always cut you down(it is not you but just "them" and their "way")My point is this.I read them not because they sometimes are controversial, but because they are intelligent and well thought out.Strange though, how I seem to agree with most of what you write.Maybe us Republican's just got our chit together more than the Democrats. Our values make "sense". Their values seem to just always stay the same just because they are...Democrats.Just my opinion.Trying not to stray away from the blog, so let me just say "You are a very good interesting blog writer".That is why I continue reading them.

One thing I do not agree with is the forced use of our second language here in the states.I have nothing against Spanish, but the invasion of it is ridiculous. Most Spanish speaking people here cannot understand us, but hold jobs here and expect us to understand them. That is why I beleive it is wrong.America just needs to be America again.Example...in a certain city in Va. where I have been going alot most stores and restaurants have employees who are mainly mexican. You can't even go through fast food there because they can't correctly take your order and it is always wrong. They get upset because we can't understand them.It is totally totally ridiculous. When doing any kind of business on the phone with them I just hang up or call back and ask for an English speaking representative. It is very frustrating and a waste of my time.I am getting older and don't want to learn another language just to please them.I am not planning any trips to Mexico, either. Those who want to live here should conform to our ways, not we to theirs.

15001nwpagal. I dont think I mentioned Spanish. I do understand your point as many feel the same way. For 4 years I lived in a Country that had 11 official languages. Everyone spoke at least 2 as they were mandatory in schools. Many spoke 3-4 or more. Communication was never a problem. I also believe that its a reqirement for admission to a College for a student to have 2 years of a foriegn language.

Another load of jingoist claptrap.

I will address point no. 1 as an example.

No other country has been as benevolent? To whom? Possibly only to itself, although the slaves, Cherokee, Creeks, and Sioux in the 19th century might disagree.

If you want benevolent nations I would suggest Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries as countries to emulate. They don't invade other countries, commit war crimes, and do sterling work in third world countries. None are perfect. But despite their blemishes, they have done more good than the US has ever done, on balance.

Shay...have you never had a rebellious teenager? Have you never had to institute strict measures to change that behavior? I have and many said I was not understanding or compassionate. But you know what I did it based on love. I believe our Countries social ills are like that. Strong leadership is needed not weak. All organisms will avoid pain but its that pain that changes behavior. Just ask anyone who went through Boot Camp. Of course I care and of course I have compassion. My approach may be different but its how I see it. Lastly yes I do get quite nostalgic about the things I treasured in my younger days. I guess thats my biggest fault. Thanks for your comment and I hope it gives you a little more insight into who I am.

Hi 60Min: Most of the time when I read your blogs I think that you must be kidding around, just putting out the most conservative viewpoint possible to start up a discussion. I have to admit that most of the time I don't agree with your opinions, but I do like the fact that you allow other people to express their views and don't insult them. There are several people who have said you insulted them, but to me you were just sticking up for yourself when you were insulted and I admire anyone who can do that. Also I like you as a person and enjoy your blogs very much. As you have probably figured out Richard, I am one of the "Far Left" people you describe, but still I hope you don't hate me. I look forward to meeting you at one of the bashes in the future. Keep up the great work. All the best, Bijou xoxo

    Quoting 60minman:
Thanks Bike I am glad you think I am very patriotic because you are right.
You are patriotic only in a 'My country right or wrong' sense. That's easy and requires no thinking. That's what all 'patriotic' ideologues do, whether they are Americans, Germans, Russians, or Frenchmen.

It's much more difficult to adhere to a patriotism that questions morally questionable actions carried out in one's name, and to try to change those policies.

E.g. A 'Real Patriot' would say 'America doesn't torture.' 'Enchanced interrogation techniques are not torture.'

A true patriot would say 'America does torture, and we must stop it.'

bike, I am very confused in your first statement to 60 "My country right or wrong" sense. It is very obvious he is a very patriotic man to "America".We are Americans, and need not be patriotic to any other countries.Americans need not be patriotic to any other countries. We are not ruling the whole world, and owe no one anything. Our first responsibility is to "OUR OWN" country. That's the way it should be, and that is the reason why we are America, every place else want to be us, have what we have(they do not) so they put us down. Our country is the dominant world leader and always will be.I think hopefully I am mistaken by the comments you make.It is not good for non Americans to question our patriotism. If someone is non American, their opinion means diddly squat. We don't have to baby the whole entire world.
