What's the Election About?.........Issues of course.

......Its all about Issues. I have been told that by the Obama supporters many many times. Anything else like character, patriotism, religion, schools attended, their families, experience, past associates, race, military experience and ethnicity are all distractions. OK lets look at Issues.....

Taxes. Senator McCain wants them low for everyone. Senator Obama wants them low for 95% of americans. I guess I am supposed to believe that 95% of Americans are suffering and do not need to pay their fair share.....

Health Care. With only 15% of Americans not having Health care Senator McCain wants to give them a tax credit of $5000 to purchase it. Senator Obama wants everyone to purchase it at taxpayers expense. Sounds like the same to me except I would prefer to get my own insurance instead of the government doing it for me.

Education. Senator McCain wants parents to make decisions on where to send their to school. Senator Obama wants the teachers unions to decide where to send your to school. So much for him being "Pro Choice".

The War on Terror. Senator McCain wants to win and bring the troops home with honor. Senator Obama changes his position many times of which the last I heard it was bring them home according to a time table.....At least I know what John McCain plan is. Don't know about his opponent but he can sure bob and weave on this issue.

Senate Votes...Senator McCain voted against President Bush on the Iraq war policy, Torture, Tax cuts, is a harsh critic of the Military Industrial complex. He wants to reduce the number of abortions. This past year he voted against his party 10% of the time. By contrast Senator Obama voted with his party 100% of the time. The conclusion I draw is Senator Obama is a stone cold, card carrying liberal and whatever his party wants he will follow. Senator McCain votes with conscience while his opponent votes with his political party.

....Needless to say Senator Obama's Rhetoric soars and thats a good thing because nothing else does. Issues are not that much different so who do you want in the oval office the next time America is attacked, Israel is attacked, Great Britain is attacked, South Korea is attacked, Oh well lets just talk about it, it may go away.....Am I fear mongering again? Oh heavens naughty me.........smile....and my apologies to the liberals for having so many specious comments......I would really hate to decieve you. Then I would have nothing to blog about.

I guess it is because I'm used to the British election process that something bugs me about elections in the USA. In England I see candidates standing before the voters and say things like, "I will do this, or I will do that." Put you own objectives in that sentence, it can be raise taxes, or it can be lower taxes, or some other plan. But the man does stand before the citizens of the country and tell them what he intends to do if elected.

Here in the USA, they candidates stand before the citizens and call the other candidates names. Just like two schoolkids in a playground, the candidates stand before the people of this proud country and throw insults at each other. Not one of them stands before the citizens and says what their policy is or what they plan to do if elected. The nearest they get to having a policy is to say, "I will change things." They don't even tell you what they plan on changing.

I am permanent resident and the one thing I'm not allowed to do is vote in elections, you know something? I'm pleased about that. Because I don't envy you citizens who have to make a choice between these two sorry candidates for the highest office in the country.

Obama? I don't think he would be a good thing for America. I don't like the way he quickly came on the scene with millions of dollars to fund his campaign. Someone intends getting him into the White House, and if they do, it won't be in the best interests of this country.

I'll end with this thought, John McCain has been in Corporate America's Washington based government for 26 years or more. What has he changed in all those long years? You know how much he's changed, don't you? Zilch, nada, nothing at all. If he gets voted in, he'll carry on doing what he's been doing for 26 years.

Alfie..

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

It never ceases to amaze me how one can twist their way of thinking to mask things their way! I resent being considered too dumb to understand both perspectives and instead need you to translate what each candidate is saying! How did I ever make it this far in my life on my own! Oh Great Conservative please save me!

WASHINGTON - The federal government will run a near-record deficit of $407 billion this year, according to the latest Capitol Hill estimates.

Please note that is THIS YEAR! That is not the total deficit! Lets see The Republicans swore to lower the deficite and claim the Dems are a Tax & Spend Party??????????

Flirty, I am appalled that you think I would try and mislead you with false information. You do know its against the SFF rules to divulge other web sites so anyone with a PC can verify to their hearts content is they want to.....Heavens I would not want to be banned.

As a fiscal and monetary conservative, I'm appalled by the economic positions of both candidates. McCain wants to lower taxes. The US has a huge national debt. How is lowering taxes going to address this? Everyone wants lower taxes, but in this case it's a prescription for increased financial problems in the future.

Obama's position, so far as I can tell, is equally ineffective in addressing the issue.

The only was to reducing the national debt, as we learned in Canada, is to generate continuous budegetary surpluses. The only way to do this is to take in more money than you shell out. This can be accomplished by increased taxatio, reduced spending, or a combination of the two.

One measure that helped to whittle away Canada's national debt was a national sales tax of seven per cent. Out current Republican-clone government has reduced this to five per cent with a concomitant reduction in federal revenues. They were warned this was not a good idea, but they did it anyways just to buy votes.

Bikenski a national consumption tax (sales tax) is a great idea. In fact HR 35 does just that (Fair Tax). I do disagree with you on the lowering of taxes. Since President Bush's tax cuts came into effect revenues have increased 20% higher than before. Our Government spends to much. If taxes are raised people will find more ways to avoid them. Whenever the price of anything goes up people seek other alternatives. The American electorate are just to preoccupied with other stuff to worry about national debt.

LOL LadyNads....I am doing the best I can. .....You are right we cannot maintain these deficits forever. Our Government spends way to much. Checking John McCains voting record he voted twice to have a morotorium on earmarks. both times he was voted down. There are some that want to spend less, not very many however.

I am a Republican. 8 yrs ago I predicted John McCain would and should be our next president. I have always felt he would make a great President. This is stupid, but Obama makes me think he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Don't trust the man at all.I think he is evil, and I feel it strongly.Maybe it's his name, maybe just everything he stands for.I have never been politicaly wrong before, so I am standing by my own feelings. There is definately something wrong about him that I can't shake.I think he is a well educated snake, and nothing more.
