"Colemanisms"

I have been an admirer of Jerry Coleman even though he played 2nd base, (my position on High School) for the dreaded Yankees (I'm a Red Sox fan). I always admired his dedication on and off the field.(he is a decorated Marine fighter pilot who flew with Ted Williams during the Korean War) He is now and has been the voice of the San Diego Padres and no doubt has brought his enthusiasm for baseball to broadcasting. His comments during games reflect that spirit.

" Rich Folkers is throwing up in the Bullpen"

Calling a game in Royals stadium in Kansas City, " The day is so clear you can see all the way to Missouri"

" All the Padres need now is a fly ball in the air"

" Montreal leads Atlanta by three, 5 to 1"

" At the end of six innings its Montreal 6 the
Expos 3."

and my favorite ism.......Referring to a Cleveland fan beating a loud drum during a game, " Well he ought to go home and find somebody else to bang."

Gee and I thought Yogi Berra was the master of "Ism's"

Another reason why Baseball remains the all american game......Apple Pie anyone?

"The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind."....T. Paine

Sometimes the comments of the action/or lack of action are the best part of the game-ha, ha.

Coleman is fun, but I grew up with the best! Vin Scully calls a game like no one else. He's the best!
