Am I Homophobic?

.......The dictionary defines homosexuality as: “Having a desire for someone of the same sex [gender] or the act of having sex with someone of the same sex [gender]." Simply put, both homosexuality and heterosexuality is about sex. One sexual expression is perfectly in line with how nature has designed our bodies for reproductive purposes and the other is not. It is interesting to note that both definitions of hetero and homosexuality says nothing about love. Love is not a behavior love is an emotion. Love can be expressed through sex but often times it is not. A person can love their to the point of giving their life for them but never even think of sexual love toward them. All thinking mature adults know that sex and love are two different things.........
........Now that we are for the most part in agreement on love and sex, I do not like, accept or feel comfortable with the gay’s sexual (behavior)expression. Am I a Homo-Phobic meaning: fearing or hating the gay person or the homosexual individual who engage in such behavior? First let me say I am uncomfortable with lots of behaviors. Smoking, Drinking, people who cut me off in traffic, cheating spouses, etc. etc. but do I fear and hate those engaging in those activities? Of course not. Neither do I fear or hate the homosexual. Just don't tell me that I have to accept a persons sexual behavior because that means its the same as someone telling me that the missionary position is the only way........
........We must never allow others to label us or put a guilt trip on those of us who do not like, accept or feel comfortable with the gay lifestyle. I’m sure that even within the gay community there are certain behaviors that they do not like........... and like me they have the freedom to do so.

AZ Imp.... please tell me in any of my blogs where I said adultery was not a sin. I saw Pheonix commit no adultery in fact in my presence he acted very gentlemanly in ever way. Please read my blog over, where did I say I felt threatened? Your are reading into it what you want to see not examining the facts. I did not say unkind things to you. I only asked you for a reason why you had to publicly call him out in the manner that you did and did you have an agenda for doing so....... and I may add that you did explain your reasons and that was the end of it as far as I am concerned.

I can just tolerate homosexuality and homosexuals. But it pisses me off is when they constantly try to push it down all our throats!!

60minman: I have gay relatives that I accept and love very much. They have enriched my life by their sensitivity and caring. They are very important in my life. You are correct that you can have an opinion about homosexuals just like they can have an opinion about people like you! They do not feel uncomfortable having straight friends.

....Born that way? are you kidding me? Would it hurt anyone to come up with proof of that? People are not born with behaviors. Blue eyes, a big nose, curly hair but a behavior?. I can hear it now as the bank robber tells the Judge Im sorry your honor I was Born that way.....

no one says you have to like asparagus!

no one says you have to like homesexuality.

But if you don't like asparagus. Does that mean there is something wrong with people who do?

This is the type of thinking that gets you in a position on issues, that is offensive. It's not the issue, whether we agree or not, that is offensive. It's the idea that there must be something wrong with people who don't think and act like you. It may not be your intent, but it sure comes across that way.

People may complain about your right wing approach, may think you are a little too narrowminded. But no one here is trying to tell you how to live, they're just protecting their own right to live. Not many here believe their position is so absolutely right, that anyone who disagree or doesn't conform must be an idiot!

Hi 60: Its doesn't sound to me like you are a homophobe. I think maybe you just don't understand what is involved in a person being 'gay'. Some people seem to think that being gay means 'promiscuous', which is not true. Not all gay people are lurking around in public bathrooms looking for casual sex. I wonder if that could be your impression, and maybe why you think being gay is wrong.

To me a person's sexual identity is determined when they are born. Every gay man I have talked to (all 3 of them), or heard talking on t.v., says they knew they were different than other boys in public school, and by puberty already knew they were gay. Its not important for any of us to understand what two people do in their bedroom in any case.

Jiminy Your comment is perhaps the most sensible one so far. Only one thing "Neither do I fear or hate the homosexual" I do believe those were my exact words. My attempt was to explain my disapproval of the Gay behavior in a non religious setting as many have jumped down my throat for doing so. Well they jump down my throat anyway. The frustration stems from the fact of their minds are made up just like mine is so they attack me instead of reasonably discussing the issue. Have a good day my friend as I am in a good mood over last nights basketball game.`

    Quoting karinpepita:
Since you talk so much about homosexuality and condemn any person that has a different view than yours, you swing the word sin like a mighty shield, I have come to believe that YOU are the one that has a problem....time to come out of the closet...
Karin...I've disagreed with this man on a number of occassions...he's not once gotten ill towards me for it...not even once...
having said htat...60min...I don't like the behaviors of homos that try to push their ways on me once they know I'm straight, but I'm not really a homophobe...for those that didn't realize it ...I WAS KIDDING!!! I'm very comfortable in my orientation and am not threatend by anyone elses'...and I would like to ask youi, 60min, to research a little and see that there are studies showing there is a difference in the physical nature of homosexual's brain...even the women's that have an "other than normal" orientation...YOU, I said NORMAL...now for those that wanna jusmp on that...define "normal" before you do...
60min I don't remember which one of your commentators said that you always seem to pick topics and use headings to catch people's eye, but I have to say...you do a fine job of doing just that...keep up the thought provoking writings...it's a good thang

Willy there are studies of brain activity however they are related to environmental behaviors which is understandable so they are in no way born with that activity. The part of the brain that is involved in basketball skills for instance gets more activity in a basketball player than in a non basketball player. Does this make any sense?

flirty, Since many reject the physical (no gay gene) and the Christian/religious disapproval of homosexual behavior I thought I would try a secular view of the subject. But I see that is rejected by many as well. I don't know how many times I have to say it but its the behavior that I am uncomfortable with not the person. There is no evidence, none, zilch, nada that a homosexual is born that way neither is a person born a heterosexual its all a matter of behavioral choice and that being the case we have to live with our choices. If the homosexual lifestyle is chosen than live with it. Don't tell me you want to get married or you want children or any other benefit derived from a heterosexual relationship.......Oh and last but not least I blogged about it because I chose to do so....Have a nice day because I am still basking in the glow of last night's basketball game.

60min...I'll look into it some more...I understand your logic, but I watched a video not long ago that showed what it claimed to be a physical difference in the brains...I don't recall enough about it to really argue it right now, just know that there is research trying to tie a physical difference into the variaton from normal behavior...Like you, I think that it is more of a choice due to environmental occurences in a person's life...AND I don't believe that just because you don't want to be around anyone that has made that choice makes you a homophobe or a bigot...just a person that has made a reasonable choice as to what company he keeps...
