Love is many things, and letting go is the hardest.

As in Love Story, where do I begin to tell the story. She was so little when we first met. Not yet able to walk, her eyes not yet open to the wonders of the world. To the wonder she would become to me,the joy, comfort, worry, friendship, and love she would bring to me. Never asking anything in return but just to be with me. There is so much to write about, but so little space.

Now she is in her twilight year. She has led a good life, has had a few ups and downs, but as time moves along, it takes it's toll on body and spirit.

Her heart that was so big with love is now enlarged with disease, the love is still there, but there is also pain. She has cancer of the stomach, failed eye sight and liver disease. We have done every thing to make her life an enjoyable one, but now the time has come.
The time to say good-by.

In a few short hours I must let her go. I will be with her to the end and with the Lords strength will strongly hold her in my arms next to my heart and find the love to let her go.

Thank you all for your kind words, they are a comfort and mean so much.

KC(killer chihuahua) went very peacefully with her head against my chest. The doctor gave her a sedative 5min before the final injection and she snuggled in my arms. After the injection it was only 10 or 15 seconds and she was at peace without any discomfort. Such a kind and caring Vet.

Again, thank you all.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Wish I could add anything here, but the earlier comments said it all I think.

You're a good man to feel so lovingly committed to your dear companion.

Hi Dinty: I really feel your pain and felt the same way when I had to make that decision and say my final goodbye to my little dog at the vet's office. It's so sad.
