IS IT LONELINESS WHAT MOTIVATES PEOPLE TO JOIN A SITE LIKE THIS ? I believe, for some of us , perhaps the majority , loneliness IS indeed a big motivator .Let's not forget that feeling lonely doesn't necessarily translates into being alone . Loneliness can be a result of unfulfilled dreams, desires , or anything that can cause us to look in the OUTSIDE for what's missing INSIDE. Unless we are WILLING to face our own motivations we will keep coming back for the illusion of finding real love in virtual friendship .What do you think ? |

I can't speak for others... but, for me, it was desperation!!!!.... P.S. It hasn't helped much. After all, here it is, many years later, and I'm no less desperate!!!.... By-the-by, Classy, have you ever gone cruising in a 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88????

Hi Classy: I joined because I was divorced, alone and lonely and was hoping to meet a man or some friends in my city. Now after about four years in this group I more or less hate people so I'm just staying on for revenge. HehHehHeh  Just kidding around Classy, I am still trying to get a date but so far no luck.

I was a widower.....and very very lonely. I met my wife here in SFF ten years ago (Wedding March music, Maestro!). Nowdays, I thoroughly enjoy using this forum (blogs) to discuss my favorite "stuff" --- photography and fishing. i can only speak for myself ~ i used to wile away spare time chatting but when the U.K. government closed down chat roms in a blind panic supposedly to protect children i simply looked for another outlet on the many many miserable rainly days

I think (and believe) - that there quite likely are as many (different) 'reasons' for folks joining on as members here, as there are ... ... members. Including those who are members with multiple screen-names/handles. I won't write what I 'think' about them ---  ...  ...
