Tools

Sorry if you thought this was going to be a derogatory blog about men. It's about real tools.

Some time ago, when I was between significant others in my life, I liked to keep some of the household basics like hammers, screw drivers etc. handy. Every time there was a man in my life my tools migrated to the no woman's land of the garage or disappeared through a wormhole into another universe. Then I saw sets of tools called "Do It Herself". They came in either pink or powder blue in a case to match. I got a pink set. Almost 30 years later some have worn our but some are still in my possession. Seems the men in my life wouldn't be caught dead with pink girlie tools.

When I began my current home improvement project I had to scramble around through cases and cases of stuff most of which, in my opinion, should be introduced to the trash can. While on a home depot run I found an updated version of my ladies tool set. This one even has an electric screwdriver. They are not the highest quality or strongest tools but I am not going to build a house from the ground up either. If They do as well as my old ones they will out last me.

Every day I set out for my "job" pink tool box, pink lunch cooler and pink Stanley thermos in hand. Wish I still had the pink coverall I had back in the truck driving days.

Good for you!!!

I've seen these and even bought a couple for myself!! Since I sold up and moved into an apartment, they're in the storage.

I have three tool sheds and each of them contains a mass of tools. Only problem I see with them is that some of them haven't been used in years and spend most of their life just hanging there waiting for me to take them down and do something with them. Yours are nice set of tools, but pink isn't my color.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I admire those who have tools and know how to use them. I call my boyfriend.

Ah yes, storage. After I get the house project done I have to empty mine and replace the shed. I will probably get tuff shed but I am not looking forward to moving everything and sorting and purging in the process.

Nice little set of tools...it is actually cute. But, not all men are tools. Not all tools are men either.

Hopefully the pink sill keep the men and the tools sorted out.

Ah, so like a man. I remember my husband getting new tools for each job, many of which he never used again.

For me things don't have to be so serious. The color tools make the unpleasant tasks like fixing things more fun. I also like identifying as a woman. I may do many things that have been labeled as men's work or men's interests but a participate as a woman, not a different looking man. All that aside the intent is to easily identify my tools and prevent them from being stopped up with those belonging to the men in my life.

Definitely true. My last set wore out before they wandered off.

Exactly. I'm got my first set half joking about men not taking them but it proved to be very effective. It's way too easy for them to grab mine because they are in the house and handy then scoop them up with theirs.

I spent too much of my life as a single mom without a man in my life to count on that. My first husband had a job that kept him away from home most of the time. My second husband was home most of the time but there always seemed to be a car or house emergency when he was away. I am too insecure to allow myself to be helpless.

Pink does keep the household tools in the house. When I worked I used to go to the 99 cent store and get wildly decorated pens and pencils to keep mine from walking off .
