A Perfect Analogy

Dreams are often a visualization of what we are thinking. A friend shared one of hers with me and I found it amazingly symbolic. To put the dream in context both of us had careers in public service where we often got into trouble for thinking and / or creative problem solving.

In her dream she was at some sort of work meeting when the top of her head exploded and her brain ran down the side of her head on to her shoulders and sat there in a limp spongy puddle. She was completely freaked out. One of her former bosses, who appeared to be the person in charge, told her to calm down. She did not need her brain at present and could take care of the mess later.

How many of us can identify with this? The only way many of us can handle work place demands is to check our brains at the door. My theory is that the current political circus brought up memories.

I remember as an apprentice and new to illogical organisation, I had to do a rush job on overtime when I didnt want to do overtime. But it 'had to be out tomorrow'. It sat on the floor for 6 weeks before being sent .........

The apprentice a year above me who had become a very good friend told me the philosophy that kept him sane and would keep me sane in this place also was, "Idiot job? How silly do you want it?" So from then on I'd just say what I thought tactfully and if over ridden do it after all, the boss is accountable for those decisions not me. Interestingly I noticed a lot of management changes over the years in different work places, but rarely the workers.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I get the idea that she was so overwhelmed by the subject of the meeting she was attending that she actually suffered from a wet brain fart and it ran down onto her shoulders.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

That is one scary dream. I would wake up from it..

Or the "Dilbert" comic strip. This was always one of my all time favorites.

It was scary for her. After I got done laughing about the funny side unrealized what the dream was telling her.

It was about dreams on general and this one specifically. I enjoyed the one you shared. Sounds like you spent some time diving the big stuff.

Love the analogy of a brain fart. Working in government service at any level is the primary cause of them.

Very accurate observation. Management is constantly changing with the egos of the individual in the position and the current trends in management philosophy but the work never changes and good workers have figured out how to do it best in spite of it all..

I dreamed I was watching television and some total fool was asked questions about everything from relations with Israel to trade with China and he couldn't answer a single question.

    Fossil

That was a group hallucination. Must be something in the air or water.
