Emergency Repairs

One of my creature comforts when camping is knowing what time it is. I usually use my cell but with no signal I keep it off and use a large, cheap battery operated clock. At night I keep it in a netting at the top of the tent so we can see it easily. Disrupted sleep doesn't take a vacation when I do and I like to know just how far the night has progressed when I wake up.

Up in the mountains at over 6000 feet altitude the days are hot and the nights cold. This needs to be accommodated. Unfortunately I forgot about the clock and left it in the hottest part of the tent. By the time we got back in the late afternoon the plastic face of the clock had warped beyond repair and the hands could not move.

My , a kindergarten teacher who is used to spending all day with young , to the rescue. She suggested I take a piece of paper and a felt tip marker and make a new face for the clock. Per her evaluation the clock would be very "Ghetto" but it would work. It did.

I could make a fancier face that won't warp but I think I will keep the original "emergency" repair. It has unique character and reminds me that we often make things far more difficult and complicated than necessary for function and that true creativity is making what you have with you work.

I'm sorry but I don't get it. If the hands stopped moving, how will you know the time?

Good idea but I am not able to wear any type without destroying them. Seems my body emits some sort of disruptive energy or something. Last week I set off Chuck's radar detector by walking in front of the car.

True - perhaps I can sell the idea and make some money off of my forgetfulness.

The crinkled face was stopping the hands. We removed the hands, replaced the face with the crude but smooth one in the picture then put the hands back in place so they now move.

As Masie said this is in keeping with the latest style so place your order. They may go fast.

How clever and funky, yes! Love the simplicity.

I like the look of that clock face. Very unusual, it may become the new fashion for clockmakers.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

We do and that is what keeps us going.
