Living In Another Country You have to love little . My shared a funny story with me about the youngest granddaughter. They got a new car a few weeks ago and the permanent license plates arrived the other day. Izzy was helping her father put them on the car. Apparently she has been watching some TV shows and knew that license plates from other countries look different. She asked her father if these were United States license plates. He told her they were. commented something like "So then the car will have to stay in the United States". Her father explained not necessarily but commented that they didn't drive to other countries. She got quite concerned and said "But we go to Mexico to see Nona." Seems she thought where I live (about 30 miles from where she does) was Mexico. After a good laugh we can see how she got that idea. We go to a local authentic Mexican restaurant restaurant when they visit, most of my decor is from Mexico or created in Mexican style. The area is primarily ranches, vegetable fields and citrus or avocado groves so there is a very large population of field and packing house workers most of whom are from Mexico and speak Spanish. I actually do go to Mexico frequently and she probably remembers that when she and her mother last lived with me I went back and forth to Mexico all of the time. You just never know how they put it all together. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

You makes me feel more homesick to my grandchildren reading this. I missed their curiosity. I have learned from my daughter in law that Rebekah my grand daughter was been having conversations to her schoolmates while waiting their parents to picked up them from school. They are kinders. One of her friend said today my grandma will come and get me from school. And Rebekah said, I have also a grandma but so sorry she is go far away, she lives in America. Kids are aware of everything! She remembers me thou. I always brought her a dress if I go home in Italy now when she heard me on the phone she wants to talk to me just to say "Nonna" grandma do not forget my dress when you come and visit us. I talk to her on the phone every now and then. Nice blog Sprit. Betty "The only way to have a friend is to be one."

Children can be so amusing can't they, Spirit? We think they are taking everything in, but sometimes they are putting their own slant on what they see and hear. Alfie...

My environment used to be much like yours - A little of this and a little of that as things caught my fancy over the 30 years I lived in the same house. When I got to start over with a blank slate about 4 years ago I had recently begun my love affair with Mexico and Mexican art so that is what it reflects. Spiritwoman ^i^

That's a cute story, Spirit. I can certainly see why she thought you live in Mexico. Elaine Shuel
