Talking To Pets

Those of us with fur babies all do this. I talk to mine like they were humans. Many of us also have a special voice for this. Ever wonder how the animal understands it? My thought is they are like babies and recognize the tones and facial expressions. When my youngest sister was a baby we older siblings would make a game of saying awful, insulting things to her in loving, playful mommy tones with appropriate facial expressions and watch her respond with smiles, giggles and happy baby noises.

I've always found that pets can tell your mood from the tone of voice you use when talking to them. My old Labrador, Laddie, could tell my mood from my voice and would act accordingly. right tone and he would wag his tail, wrong one and he'd go lie in his corner. I miss that old dog!!

Cute post, Spirit. Everyone talks to their pets and I'm sure they could tell if all is well by the sound of our voice and expression.

I talk to all my animals and they do answer, though I don't know what they are saying anymore than they know what I am saying. They great me at feeding time, follow me around and know when to back off, in other words, they give me my space when I'm in a bad mood, and I don't have to even say a word, they just know. animals are more in tune than what we give them credit for.

I'm not sure about the frogs but I know fish all seem to detect human presence. Mine used to get into formation to eat whenever anyone went near them.

I can't imagine having them and not talking to them.

My critters always left me alone when I wanted solicitude. My favorite dog always knew the difference between silence meaning I just wanted to be quiet and silence when I was unhappy.

The dog that just passed away was completely deaf. You would have to go touch him to get his attention.

Aren't tablets fun? I am doing better but still do best with a real keyboard and no auto correct.

Mine hides in the electronic stiff when kids are here. Somehow he knows they are not allowed to get into that stuff.

They can learn to understand. My daughter had a dog she got in Germany. If you wanted to be sure he got the command right you had to give it German but he responded just fine to being talked to in English.
