The Blond and the Mysterious Chirping Sound

Yesterday was my usual go into town early and take care of business as possible at the residence Tuesday. This includes several stops for various supplies. About half way through the ritual I noticed a chirping sound in my car. It was intermittent and sounded like a battery low warning. Then it stopped and I forgot about it.

Got to the house, left my to unload the supplies and got involved dealing with one of the residents current problems.

When I was done my told me he brought the groceries into the kitchen and started putting them away but was interrupted by a cricket he couldn't find. When he unpacked the last bag he solved the cricket and car mysteries. One of my first stops had been at the pet store and I got a treat for the Bearded Dragon, 2 dozen large crickets. I got so distracted getting the rest of the stuff I completely forgot I had the crickets! Hey, I have multiple excuses, I'm blond, I'm old and I have ADD

Moral of the story - lizard lunch can be noisy. If it chirps like a cricket it may well be that, just a cricket.

How big is the Bearded Dragon? How many crickets does it eat for a meal Spirit? Sounds like an interesting kind of pet to have.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Often the best way to deal with those strange unidentifiable noises that we hear in our cars, is to turn the volume up on the radio.

She is about 10 - 12 inches long and would grow bigger if she had a larger "house". She will eat as many crickets as she can catch but after the first few she has to chase them around. They spread out and hide so she eats them over a few days. She gets about 3 days out of a dozen which are supplemented with banana and lettuces but she much prefers the crickets or meal worms.

Especially for those of us who are easily distracted.

Oh yes, I remember the days of mice, then rats. Rehomed the snake when we needed to graduate to rabbits. I don't think there is much we didn't have around when raising kids, including various wild critters that were injured or orphaned and needed nursing back to health.

This made me laugh, that you mistook the sound of crickets for your car battery going wrong.
Do post a photo of your bearded dragon.
I don't have a pic at the moment but will take one the next time I get by the house and post it for you.

    GBU,

    Gavin

That one spooks me even more. If the car has a good sound system and you listen to classic rock like I do you hear all of these unexpected instrumental sounds. More than once I have had to turn the radio off and listen just to make sure it isn't the car.

Pic coming soon as I get one. She is a fascinating critter - like a mini dinosaur but friendly. Even gave me a "kiss" the other day.
