Action and Vision

I'm still thinking about this one. I can see the point but not sure I agree. Thoughts?

I agree with both Doug and Mitee.

Nice blog. Hope to see more comments.

To me 'vision without action is a daydream' makes sense but somehow seems incomplete (?). What of visions/knowledge or certain truths apprehended by clairvoyants or prophets? Depending on the vision, I would imagine some to be of a non-action nature yet still a truth/fact to be uncovered sometime in the future perhaps. Would a non-action vision be considered a daydream, a passive action or perhaps even a pending action? Or none of those? And action without vision can have very serious consequences if planning for the future lacks imagination and/or wisdom. A little too simplistic a view on my part again perhaps.

Often I am very impulsive and things usually turn out well, but then I have very strong intuition so perhaps that is my vision. .

I agree with the intent of he message. I would choose another word instead of "nightmare"...Perhaps "blind" or "misguided". This almost sounds as if it were interpreted from another language.
Translation would explain why I want all that sure about it.

A different twist on the wording.

I agree with Doug as well.....just want to add that a lot of our actions are repetitive and don't require a vision....in fact, we often think about other things while performing repetitive actions.......Also, in the case of competitive sports, for instance, visualization is very important when performing repetitive actions.......In the creative sphere, it is important to have a vision and then let it go and get out of your own way.....this is also true in meditative practice.........some people will never take action until they have every step planned out, others are more spontaneous by nature........In our modern world, we have to seize spontaneity whenn we have the opportunity. I have always kept Sundays for that......go-with-the flow day......now I have my grandkids all day on every Sunday and that is what we do.......my 8 year old grandson wore his pjs all day.....even outside........my grandaughter, who is 5, changed about a dozen times.....at one point she was wearing a dragon costume and a bride's veil......with a chocolatey face........Go with the flow Sundays at my house.........
True about repetitive action. I often get into a meditative state while swimming my laps. Not sure if it is becasue it is repetitive or rhythmic and relaxing (at least the way I do it).

As for creative work - I begin with a vision but wander. Sometimes what I end up with is far from what I thought I would create

Almost of my projects go that way. I have a vision when I start but that changes along the way, often many times before I complete the project. The end product is often nothing like the vision but I am always satisfied with it - or I keep working with it until I am.

I think it is very possible to have vision without action - in fact sometimes the lack of action is what keeps us from getting into trouble. Action with no vision is also possible, exercising being my main example - unless the vision is having a healthy body as a result.

I'm not sure what I would call a psychic vision - for me that takes us to a different reality where most of our "rules" don't apply anyway.

Hi Spirit: I think the last part about action without vision is what happened after 9/11. Bush started wars in Afghanistan and also Iraq, but what was the goal? To punish someone for destroying the WTC? Unfortunately I think the same thing is happening with this 'war' against ISIS, to punish someone for the beheading videos? All through history people have been forcefully taking over other people's countries, and beheadings are normal punishment in some Middle East countries. For example Saudi Arabia had 19 beheadings in the month the first beheading video came out, so why not bomb Saudi Arabia too??? Sorry for the long reply.

Good thought. It would be difficult though to direct efforts well enough to eliminate collateral damage.

In think you have identified the difference between an idea and a vision. Visions often do not included and sort of implementation but ideas do. :

Your blogs often spark realizations......This one helped me realize how much I have hidden my psychic vision because of the influence of 2 of my sisters who are Jehova Witnesses. One of them is 10 years older than me and she started trying to convert me when I was 14......she had a parenting role because of my mother's ill health. In the artist circles I inhabit, the term "vision" is used a lot and I am used to it in that context........but I also have psychic vision, which is also an aspect of my creative vision. To the JW's the word "vision" is rife with evil........they can't get past their occult reference..........I know a very fine, creative artist who is a JW and asked him how he got around that and he said he just made sure he never used the word..........it is the word that triggers the fear............sounds crazy to me. I have a visionary gift that I accept and honor and have gratitude for and use all the time that I never talk about and never acknowledge to others.......I share it as finished product, but I realize just now that I never share the process or use the word "vision".......as bad in some circles as the F word....or worse.......
We all have those things we are careful about discussing.
