Bring It On

I did it. Celebrated 69th birthday in another non conventional way - learning to operate a bull dozer. I figure that I need to celebrate every year I am still hanging on by breaking through yet another stereotype of age and being female.

Why a bull dozer? There is really a practical application. We have A D-9 Cat plus a huge road grader at the lake in order to maintain the roads. I have always wondered what it would be like to "play" with them but since they are parked on the edge of the property some 50 feet above the water I always hesitated. Until the equipment is out of it's "parking spot" one wrong move would have deadly, if not wet, consequences.

I did well with my "training" and was able to put the dozer through all of it's basic moves. This means moving dirt, digging holes, filling in holes etc. As I was going through the process my mind wandered to all of the stuff here. Definitely similarities - plowing through crap, moving dirt, digging a hole for no particular reason, then filling it back in to repair the damage..........

So now I am ready! bring on the BS. I have the right toy to "plow through it" .

Thank you.

I do have great toys, due in part to the fact that I was never restricted from playing with ones that traditionally were assigned to boys.

The dozer we have is about twice the size of the trainer - plus we have a huge road grader. Lately I'm thinking I may need the grader.

Interesting, isn't that when our bodies start to set limits about the time we have to reach farther and farther to get out of the comfort zone.

This is great. I applaud you for your fervor in living life!
And they said I wouldn't see 30! I have ever been one to let things pass me by or to miss out on anything.

Yes, we have 25 acres on a central CA lake in a family trust. Due to the extreme drought we have no water this year. Only the second time this has ever happened. The lake is man made and serves as a reservoir for agricultural water in the Salinas Valley

We maintain a short road on our own and about 10 miles more in conjunction with a couple of neighbors - but we have the equipment. My daughter's father in law and her grandson are the main ones who use the equipment. Originally it was operated primarily by an adjoining resident but he was older and ha since passed.

The place I took my "instructions" is a place in Las Vegas. They had
what I needed to learn. It's not too expensive but staying in Las Vegas these days is. Spent more on a basic bacon and eggs breakfast this AM than I usually do for a good dinner!

Let me know if you are interested in learning more about the place and I'll send it to you in private message.

I'm with knxldy, you need to bring that dozer into the blogs and move the trash out.

This 69 year child loves her toys as I can see and is apparently quite an accomplished worker with all of them.

Many happy returns of the Day, SpiritGirl, once again and may each one in the future be happier and healthier than the preceding one to celebrate and a new toy to go with the celebration !!

I am not sure about next year. My sister suggested swimming with the wild dolphins in Bimini but we will have to see how finances go for that one.

We have a larger dozer and a HUGE road grader. The larger dozer is best for digging and filling in holes. That would be best if we want to bury something. If we have a larger area to smooth out the grader would be best.

Yup - I'll be taking them out to rattle the kid's cages. Fair turn around for all the stuff they did growing up. The get away has been great even if we can't keep going like we used to. Makes having the suite worth it.

And the child is still as hyper as ever.
Thank you for your good wishes.
