I'm Out of My Gourd A couple of months ago someone posted a photo of gourd bird house with a painting on it. I got an idea to try this with my fall decoration gourd when it dried. Finally it was ready. The bird on the back is an actual portrait of a starling I raised from a featherless hatchling. He did well and lived as a pet for 5 years. He used to sit on my head and ride around the house. He learned to talk on his own and talked up a storm. Each year when he molted he got greyer and greyer and was almost entirely grey feathered by the time he passed away from natural causes. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

But isn't being our of our gourd a great place to be? Much more fun than stuck in the rut with "the normals" Spiritwoman ^i^

Bobby was one of the coolest animal companions I ever had. We had another, a mocking bird named Chirpee but he never "bonded" with humans. It is sad becasue when you hand raise and nurse a baby bird to adulthood they can never live in the wild so when you attempt saving one you have to understand that if you are successful you will be responsible for their care for the rest of their life. What a great idea. I'll have to look for a couple of those - one for the grand kids and another for my cat. Spiritwoman ^i^

I'm hoping one will but I may have made the opening too large. I hadn't done the bird house thing since I was a kid and may not have remembered my sizes correctly. Spiritwoman ^i^

Hopefully one of the sparrows who insist on nesting in the car port and pooping on the cars will use it. Being respectful of nature I refuse to let Chuck destroy the nests so every year we do a lot of car cleaning. As for posting pictures, Mseducator figured it out. If you are a gold member you can post pics in comments. write the blog, post it, then go back to it and add the pic as a comment. Since you can still do it this way I assume some day SFF will fix things so it works the old way like it says it will. Only issue is whether or not it will be restricted to paying members.
