You Can’t Judge a Book by It’s Cover

What is your reaction to the in this photo? So many people have negative things to say a without even knowing anything about him. Most of us try not to judge by appearances but it is difficult

Emilio, my sister’s step , is an amazing, kind and caring young man. He is comfortable with adults, peers or the younger . Always willing to lend a helping hand.

So what is with the looks? He is an extremely creative, talented in both art and music. His creativity extends to his appearance. You never know what he will look like as this changes from day to day but you can count on the fact that it will be original.

I don't see any difference between what he is doing than what we did as kids with the flat tops. I am sure Butch Hair Wax love us because that is what we used to make the hair stay up straight.

Perhaps people's tendency to judge by looks is a good way to identify those who judge by looks rather than the content of the person and eliminate them from our circle early on.

We all had our thing, didn't be. Mine was the bohemian look (pre hippie) - black tights and white lipstick.

I will pass on the hug with pleasure. As I told Lynn, the Universe sent him to the right family for love and support. I will tell the whole story one of these days about my sister and Emilio's father. Talk about fate and love. It's the stuff movies are made of.

Oh, do I remember all of this from my days in Voc. Rehab. So true. Laughing here though as Emilio is as unlikely to venture into the types of jobs you mentioned. His dad owns tire store and modifies and restores vehicles as well. Emilio will likely join him, creating all sorts of amazing car designs. Of course he tames down the hair while working.

It also reminds me of my day job days. When I promoted to management I had my collection of high end suits and matching shoes. I used to refer to them as my costumes. When dealing with young folks who are having a hard time getting this putting it into this perspective helps. They can "get" the costume thing. I also used to approach the office politics thing as role playing and employment in general as learning how to successfully spend all day getting along with people you normally wouldn't be caught dead with. From a personal perspective my challenge was always not buying into the role playing, costume and acting to the extent of loosing my identity.

Sadly, few of us have the luxury of self expression when it comes to employment when creativity and innovation is what the corporate world needs most.

No danger of him ever doing office work unless it was the only thing he could do to survive.

Laughing here as you are talking to someone who got a tat for their 65th BD, has a blue tree in the back yard, a 5 ft. goddess painting on the carport, and who's mop of kinky blond hair has been my "do" for 40 years. Fortunately when I had to "clean up" for jobs the hair easily goes into a bun or pony tail for the "librarian" look.

As I said before, the Universe sent Emilio to the right family.

Tip for having some fun with the guys with their buts showing - "spook" them and watch them try to run. Teaches them the same lesson the no bra trip across the back roads in Mexico did for me - Even in freedom of expression there are some painful limits posed by the laws of physics.

I am like Ms.Education. I have seen so many young men and a few women who looked like this to be bothered by it. I applaud his creative spirit and his freedom to try different persona while he is young. Yes, if he were to be out in the business world, he might have to tone it down, but again, that will be his choice. One of my daughters did change her look, the other did not. Both held good jobs and have earned their own way without sacrificing who they are inside.

Spirit, I got my tattoo on my 60th. My way to expressing that I wasn't dead yet, still plenty of life and rebel left in me. Way to go, girl!!

There are so many choices these days - which is a good thing but it does make it harder for the younger folks to decide who and what they really are.

Cngrats on the tat. I'm probably goind to get another on my wrist when I get it together to go get it done. It'd been drawn and waiting for a year and a half.

The variety of choices open to young folks today is a great thing but I am not sure if it makes things easier or more difficult for them to find out who they really are.

Funny thing about my tat, my daughter said I would chicken out and I had to remind her that I had given birth to her and her sister naturally, without any pain medication.

Not sure what he uses. His style changes day to day. Could be down straight, a pony tail or tucked up in a knit cap. This one did not hold up all that well. As you can see there were spaces starting to form in it. It was really funny when, during the traditional family food fight a greed bean sailed right through one of the spaces.

The weird looking ones are not weirdos essentially.

I have an IT faculty member with a pony tail and the military man in me hates his slouchy manner. He sports a pony tail and wears shirts which, sometimes, appear as if they were last touched by an iron about a century ago.

The man is a wiz with the keyboard and a computer. In a class room with a computer or a marker, he is a wizard whose manner of speech is clear, crisp and business like with complete mastery of the subject.

My students just love him - how can I ever detest him ( ??!! ) - my military background notwithstanding.

Best wishes to Emilio.

Have a wonderful day, SpiritGirl.
