Politics and My Steamer

Finally I have a new handle for my steamer. It has a few imperfections but it will work - for now. The process of accomplishing this has convinced me that Chuck needs a second career as a politician.

I love vegies. Chuck does not like them but has learned to tolerate them if he wants to eat. I steam vegetables every day. Lately the handle on the steamer lid loosened up with wear. I could still use it but Chuck decided it needed to be fixed. He removed the handle leaving a hole in the top of the lid and rendering it not good for steaming vegetables. He said it would be fixed right away.

Now the logical solution would be to go to the hardware store and buy a new handle for a couple of dollars first then simply change it.

But no – He decided to build one using his 3-D printer. Keep in mind that the printer cost more than a few hundred pot handles and has to date only produced a few small things including a cover for the car remote that looks like one of the large Legos for toddlers, a couple of hot pink containers for screws and other small items in the tool box and spare parts for the printer itself.

First there was the 3 day study complete with measurements and diagrams. Next came 2 days of trying to print the knob in black (it’s original color) only to verify that the black material did not melt appropriately. That meant deciding between a new handle in bright green, red, blue, yellow or maybe hot pink. Next was a 2 day “hiatus” to take care of other things. I started to wonder if this was a ploy to keep fresh veggies off the table. Paranoia escalated. He is a political conservative. Could this be a right wing conspiracy against veggies? Today, after several hours of “adjustments”, he finally got the black to print. Then there was "polishing" the handle and cleaning up the mess made by grinding and filing., necessitating bringing out the big vacuum since the job was far too much for "Fred" the robo vac who does his little job on a daily basis.

Last night I was steaming my vegies using an all-purpose cover that is way too large for the pot. The news was on in the back ground with the current political crap. I saw the similarity!

LOLOL!

This is all part of a CIA black ops program began under Bush 1. Remember when he openly and brazenly asserted that he hated broccoli?

LOL!

GBU,

Gavin

He is strange but that is what it takes to put up with me. Remember I am so hard on anyone I live with that I keep my trailer as a back up.

Life would be simple and direct and we would all do better at negotiating after years of experience settling arguments between squabbling kids and deescalating emotional teens.

Carrots today. Tomorrow I am off to the local produce stand to see what is good for the next few days. Fortunately there are 2 produce stands within a couple of miles that carry local as well as imported produce and all sorts of goodies like dried fruits, home made jams, local honey etc.

No - much easier just to go to the hardware store and buy a new handle. I agree with Gavin - this is part of a CIA secret OP begun by Bush 1 who hated broccoli.

I had put an observation here which seems to have vanished, SpiritGirl.

My compliments to Chuck - he is, indeed, a perfectionist and that was the perfect painstaking expression of devotion and love.

Have a nice evening and a wonderful weekend.

Spirit could you get Chuck to print me out a New Car?
In theory this is supposed to be possible but in reality? I suppose it is possible, making it small piece by small piece but at the rate this project took the car would probably take about 1000 years.
