Look, Up Over the Couch - t's a Lamp, It's a ?????? As most of you know I have a very "distinct" style for decorating and create most of my own things so that I can have just what I want. I terrorize the staff at the local Home Depot by constantly searching for things for "off label" use. Current point in question was a lamp that would provide working and reading light over the love seat and would not be "ugly". Few fixtures were available in a reasonable price range (I didn't want to end up with lamp that cost more than the house)that met both my needs and aesthetic wants. A couple of months ago I found some great bargains on Mexican ceramic items. I got several flower pots that double as all sorts of containers and the wall plaques I used for borders in the kitchen. Currently my house has a Huichol (distinct form of Mexican art) or celestial theme throughout. I am not sure exactly what this item was intended to be. It's large enough to be a flower pot or container but is a globe with cut outs. It is likely a candle cover but a candle large enough for this would burn the entire house down or at the very least increase the temperature by several degrees. I saw my ideal lamp in the rough. It sat around for a couple of months but last week Chuck wired it for me. It weighs a ton but is perfect in terms of function and aesthetics for the needed spot. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

I'd have to shrink my head though. The largest hole is only about 6 inches in diameter. Spiritwoman ^i^

Thank you. My over active imagination and hyper active energy are alwasy coming up with something. I also have a "thing" about wanting things that don't exists in the normal world so have learned to create. Spiritwoman ^i^

Color is what attracts me to Mexican decor - and the entire culture for that matter. So bright and alive! Spiritwoman ^i^

I've been working on it for a while. Hard to imagine I moved into a beige and brown place. Things are changing though. Not as fast as I used to be but we're getting there. Spiritwoman ^i^

I used to bring a Fiesta Dress back for my granddaughters every year but not that they are older they want what all of their friends are wearing. The youngest doesn't even want to wear clothes if she can help it. Wears shorts and flip flops all winter! Traditional Mexican folk clothing are indeed beautiful and colorful for children and adults. However, when people dress up for everyday outings they have some really sophisticated modern clothing. Spiritwoman ^i^

This, SpiritGirl, is beautiful - Chuck's technology obviously complements your art. Have a wonderful Monday and the rest of the week. PS: for some SFF reason, the same observation placed here yesterday, disappeared. "To fight the darkness do not draw your sword, light a candle" - Zarathustra

Thank you. I do have definite ideas about what I want and if I don't find it I create it. Spiritwoman ^i^
