Today was Stone

Sad day. We finally had to have my golden retriever put down last night. She was suffering from nasal cancer and had not been doing that well for the last couple of months. However the past week she perked up a bit. Day before yesterday she even played with her tennis ball. Night before last she started another round of seizures. This round left her unable to see or get up. Even the residents of my home decided it was time.

We were fortunate to have a vet who came to the house and Penni was able to go peacefully in her own surroundings and have the people she loved her with her. We will all miss her so much. She was a beautiful, gentle loving animal, a great playmate for my granddaughters and a companion / therapy for my residents.

There are thousands of dogs in shelters that need love and a home. Once things settle down I will be rescuing 2 of them as my residents need them as much as the dogs need a home but none will ever replace Penni

Oh Spirit, that's a big stone! Sorry for you, but it must have been hard to see Penni suffering.

So sorry to read this, it is always hard to lose one of our canine buddies. At least she isn't suffering now.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

The best thing we can do to remember her is to make a home for other dogs in need. She was a rescue dog herself.

Iw has been a hard 3 months seeing her suffer and go down hill but harder to have her put down while she still enjoyed being with us.

I am so sorry, hard to say goodby to old friends...I am sure you did the right thing...
It is hard. The pic was originally taken to show my art work (jewelry, paintings and clothes) but Penni being the big baby she was just had to get in there and get some attention.

No, she is not and she did have a really happy 6 years with us. She had been abused and abandoned when she got her.

I doubt that I will ever be without pets. Even while here I have my cat with me. Dogs have to live at my house in town but I visit them several times a week.

I remember that. It was on a holiday on top of it as I recall. A double sadness.

Very sorry to hear of ur loss. Thank you for being a pet owner who is just as devoted to her pet, as her pet was to her.

GBU,

Gavin

Thank you. She is probably chasing tennis balls with my son's dog over the rainbow bridge.

Thank you. I have had pets all of my life as did my mother and grandmother before and now my kids and grand kids. Nothing like the bond with them.

Thank you. Yes, we will have more dogs soon. I have always had at least 2 and up to 5. So many needy ones out there.

I know what you mean about the mini pin on crack. My daughter has one - along with a very old, fat, grumpy Jack Russell. Quite a pair.

It never gets easier. I am so sorry to hear of this. I know a couple of rescue dogs are going to be happy and that will transfer to you too. Are pets are so special.
Yes we will settle in to the new, we always do, I am just glad that loss does not stop me from being open to loving again.

Dear Spirit: So sorry to hear this sad news and hope your darling Penni didn't have to suffer too much at the end. How humane for the vet to come over to Penni's home.

She had about 6 months of discomfort but with medication no real suffering until the last round of seizures and after that she was only semi conscious until the vet got there. She had a good couple of days just before the final round and was still happy to be with us,
