Snow White and Rose Red

When I was a young my grandmother always read to me from old books she had kept from when my mother. One was a 1920's edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Wish I had it at the moment but it, like my other treasures and memories, are packed up in storage or maybe even with one of my .

Snow White and Rose Red is one of the lesser known Grimm stories. It's about 2 sisters with opposite appearances yet both are beautiful. I haven't thought of this story in many, many years. Perhaps not even since I stopped reading these books myself. I am surprised I even remember it.

What brought it to mind? In my last posts I wrote about my current life crap and how on the toughest day the Universe sent me support by way of old friends, including the one who just popped up and provided relief and comfort when needed most.

I drove home from my friend's yesterday AM to shower, change clothes and get to the business of the day thanking the Universe for all of the love and support it gives me. When got out of the car I saw the picture that I am sharing. The drive way is lined with rosebushes. A yellow one, a pink one and 4 - 5 white ones. They were some of the few plants that alive when I came out here to live 3 years ago. There were never any red roses or ones with small blooms.

When I got out of the car I noticed that this one particular white rose bush had produced a branch of small bright red blossoms over night. There had been no hint of this when I tended them last on Sunday.

WOW - another sign from the Universe that in spite of what we have to deal with or endure we are loved, cared for and supported by a higher power. Life itself is such a miracle with small miracles along the way to remind us when we need them most.

To quote my illustrious compatriot William Shakespeare: There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

This quotation is as true today as it ever was.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Undoubtedly, flowers brighten our lives, as well as a blue sky, an early sun ray coming through the window, a gentle breeze, a word, a hug...
I love your blog, Spirit.

Chuck is not doing as well today but not that far off course. Breathing problems and yes, like most men he is having difficulty following orders. Today it was the respiratory therapist and I who had to gang up on him to make him do his treatments and breathing exercises. He wants to come home ASAP and keeps telling the doctor I can take care of him - NOT!!!!! Just because I can handle a medical crisis does not mean I want to.

The previous post is about my first round of the Universe giving me the extra love and care when I needed it. It is so wonderful to see the constant displays of this.

I could live without a lot of things but don't think flowers, plants, blue sky and sun are among them.

I agree with the girls and the boy here...
Amazing, isn't it that no matter what we choose to call it or what inadequate words we use to express it miracles d abound. Even the hard core scientific agnostics in my life have to admit that, as Chuck puts it, "there are things that defy scientific logic"
