Foto Friday - Harvest Agriculture is one of the major industries in my area. Harvest is ongoing. Depending on the season there is something being planted and something being harvested at any given time. Earlier this week I took a “field trip” and captured some of the present activity. All of these shots were taken within 10 miles of home. I had a fun afternoon driving through the countryside, top down enjoying a heat wave. It was in the 90’s and temps set records nearby. The Center photo is of a truck being loaded at one of the local packing houses. Local produce is shipped all over the world. The other photos are : upper right – oranges, below that , small one – local pumpkins, close up of avocados and shot of avocado orchard framed by orange trees, center bottom – a local produce stand, lower left – local strawberries, above that – cabbage fields, and top left – lemons. Presently strawberries are being planted. Other crops I saw but did not get pic or are persimmons, corn, squash, celery, tomatoes and peppers. Nearby are commercial plant nurseries and a cut flowers and house plant nursery. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

I think I'll see some of those fruits in my local supermarket. The only fruit Canadians see in the winter comes from California/Florida. Thanks for showing the genesis of all that Vitamin C!

Oh - I forgot, only about 20 miles from the beach as well. After traveling around the country my dad chose this area to re-locate the family to in the 60's. I can see why. I have been in and out all over the place but always return. Spiritwoman ^i^
