GentleBen: WOW --- those are BEAUTIFUL!

As a child, approximately 20 yards from our home, there were several LARGE lilac bushes - they bloomed huge amounts of those gorgeous flowers each late spring. When weather allowed, I could leave my bedroom windows open overnight, and the 'aroma' came in there 24/7. I remember feeling sad when the lilac-blooming season was over. Siiiiigh.

However, I'll come back to your blog picture frequently, and will do that 'go down Memory Lane' frequently.

THANK YOU!

me too! you are so lucky to have lilacs ... do you grow them?
Me three! I wish my mother was still alive to smell them with me. Thanks for triggering and bringing back good memories.

The positive is there. Sometimes it's just hard to find.

Hi LA, yes, the little lilac tree out front went nuts this year. It is just loaded with blossoms, and Sandy clipped a few for our dining table. Talk about a lovely smell!!! Thanks for the kind words.

Hi and thanks for dropping by. Well, we have two lilac bushes in our yard and they just sorta do their thing. Even though the climate can be extremely harsh, lilacs seem to thrive here in Nova Scotia. And of course, it's mid June and the lilacs have already come and gone elsewhere. But as a harbinger of Spring, lilacs are wonderful.

Hi ben, I almost missed this beautiful display. It reminds me of the lilacs we used to have when I was small child. I can remember the lovely smell. We dont have any at the moment. Is there a song called 'We'll gather lilacs in the Spring' I know the first line!!!!

Thankyou Ben....lovely lilacs. I have a vase of french white lilacs on the table right now...the aroma is almost over powering but I love it.Here on the island we have four varieties, only the white blooming but the rest within the next week. Lovely scent drifting into the window on the night air...lovely to fall asleep by.

Have a great day..Erna
