What happened to US

We went through a time were a majority of citizens believed it didn't matter the party...for varying reason Party politics was all talk and in reality candidates were the same in the actions they took. Although history will tell us different, at the time, people didn't really see that big a difference between JFK and Nixon in how the country was actually run. Every Candidate seemed to "cave in". My generation messed this up, never realizing in a Democracy that's the way it suppose to be. We grasp at straws looking for a candidate who will "make a difference". When it can only be "US" that makes the difference.

Our government is a coloring book.. Repesentatives get to choose the colors, but everybody needs to color within the lines.
For the most part coloring outside the lines was a no no. It was understood without any Party consideration. We elected people who we trusted to oversee the ones other people elected. No one got away with being a 'bad" Democrat or a "bad" Republican. We were a Republic in which our own government was
SELF-GOVERNING.
Democrats worried less about Republicans than other Democrats.. and Republicans worried less about Democrats than other Republicans. It's truly one of the most amazing statements about our government at that time.. When someone like Barry Goldwater could flush Nixon down the toilet. Goldwater now reminds me of Liz Cheney.. The reasoning is not self serving.. It's about not letting one of your own, color outside the lines.

We have reached the breaking point of self-governance.....As self-government is no longer self-governing.. Certainly not the three branches of government. The Executive, Legistlative or Judiciciary....Not the institutions of government and not the different levels of government Federal, State and local. Who's watching the store? Who's drawing the lines?
If WE The People don't it.. who do think is going to?

The fault of what happened in Uvalde.. goes to the people of Uvalde. Trust in the governing by the untrustworthy.....Local, State and Federal. they learned the lesson of selfr governing.. Uvalde was their town.. It was their responsibility.
I know governing has changed in Uvalde..Do WE need our children to suffer before we change things?

The irony about trust...is however much it can be abused. It still matters to the abuser. Both in personal actions and government actions.. The overriding factor of taking advantage of someone trust is not losing someone's trust. In some ways those are the lines we draw.
That is until the time.... you can made to have fake trust for those unworthy of trust.
