Breathe In... Breathe Out In a moment we find the meaning of life The meaning of God and the search for love But amidst the toil, the strain and strife we become grounded never rising above And life passes Us by like tides upon the shallows Seeing the beauty of a butterfly, as it wings past Then experiencing the pain of slings and arrows Never the same, the picture show that never lasts What should we do... that tells it so well So Beauty and the beast are held at bay God and peace and love in one magic spell that can last throughout everyday To realize life's miracle to breathe in and out Each breathe battles the hate and pains It's what peace, love, and beauty's about not to be pass by, but steadfastly remains |

It's my new thing To feel the air..To find life.... to let it out to realize the meaning of peace and love and God To not just live life..........but to feel life. And in that moment.. what may come to pass is all worth it.

Elusive Butterfly - Bob Lind You might wake up some mornin' To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind And if you're quick enough to rise You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow Out on the new horizon You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings And if the sleep has left your ears You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow Don't be concerned, it will not harm you It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love The opening lines and chorus of this beautiful song came to mind on reading your poem - hope you don't mind its inclusion : )

Good blog, JC. I think it is a truth that many only discover when they are older and begin to really realize the fact that time on earth is limited and we can see the end of ours. Not being morbid, just contemplative. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I so wish I could get mind there but I can't, but I want to. It is said.... you have to stop and smell the roses I always thought it was about not being superficial about it's beauty.. It was about knowing a rose and all it offers. Most of us.. deal with it differently when it comes to negative things..negative things will usually give us a negative emotional response. and our memories are less about events than they are about our emotional responses. Our lives are lived upon the memories we carry with us. Emotional responses to events, prioritizes each memory. You need to stop and smell the "roses",, wherever you can find them. Not so you know what a rose is... but to carry those "roses" with you.

Good blog, JC. I think it is a truth that many only discover when they are older and begin to really realize the fact that time on earth is limited and we can see the end of ours. Not being morbid, just contemplative. They say when you die you need to walk into the light...I don't profess to know what that light is..but i don't expect to be walking when I die.. ..I think the light, for me, is knowing I am... is knowing I was. God in his infinite wisdom gave us the power of choice. He wrote the bible and ten commandments..but sin was never meant to be written in stone... Defining our choices, when there is only one choice for sin.. It's the theme of it all.. and it's true meaning. You can convince yourself otherwise. and believe there is such a thing a Quid Pro Quo, hate and revenge. But God and the Original Sin.... gave us only one choice with the ability to choose to sabotage our own life. For those "true believers" the evidence is when Eve took a bite of the apple.; And as you may think it was HER sin..... but how is taking a bite of the apple a sin, It's not defined as sin. but it can be defined as sabotaging her life .. Yet.......the truer sin is when Adam "swallowed" it.

Good blog, JC. I think it is a truth that many only discover when they are older and begin to really realize the fact that time on earth is limited and we can see the end of ours. Not being morbid, just contemplative. How for some people does it bring clarity, focus, and a new prioritizing of what is important. how does it remove the fear of things that once controlled their life. so that you may live the life you have left.... instead of the one you had. How and why does it change people? Maybe i am wrong and it's just the imagination of a script writer. For I know no one that has had that experience.. yet I believe it to be true...because I am living it.. And besides that.. It takes imagination to know the truth.

JC, years ago I had what could be described as a near death experience, but it did not instantly change my life. It did however, start me slowly back on the path to where I wanted to be spiritually. It is now that I am older that I am appreciating more and more my surroundings. As I drive down our road, I see the same sights I have seen for 49 years, but I have a new found appreciation for them. The same when I sit on the patio and feel the sun and breeze or the night wind and hear the sounds all around, and I breathe. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I'm happy for you that you have these fulfilling experiences.....the reason I have chosen to live my life close to Nature......

I should have it sets the stage for life changes...that stage is different for everyone. So changing of stages is a stage for change .

I'm happy for you that you have these fulfilling experiences.....the reason I have chosen to live my life close to Nature...... Those who believe God is the same for everyone. that he is all powerful, and God completely defines right or wrong. Those folks not only bit the apple they swallowed the damn tree. God became literal......only for the illiterate. They can't deal with it any other way.

I read Robert Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange land as a teen....at the same time I became disillusioned with Christianity.......I was intrigued with Smith's grokking......I grokked constantly, honing my skills.....grokking on people in my classes and on the nature I was surrounded by .......My parents were lovers of the wilderness and grokking opened up a whole new world of possibilities to me......It became the foundation of my spirituality and is still brings me immense satisfaction, pleasure and peace.

Great song...but people certainly do confuse pronouns... Beginning with he and she. And never understanding... I is you... and You is me... and You are me.. In this song, one needs to realize you take both parts.

Doesn't it seem ironic that people who have near death experiences.. don't have the sheet scared out of them. How for some people does it bring clarity, focus, and a new prioritizing of what is important. how does it remove the fear of things that once controlled their life. so that you may live the life you have left.... instead of the one you had. Years ago while working in the welfare arm of a church, a homeless man I was assisting told me he was a stranger in a strange land. It had a haunting effect on me - I would have liked that he elaborate but as he appeared confused, I didn't want to press him. I'm not familiar with the book and just looked up 'grokking'. Interesting word meaning. It was fascinating to me and still is......I spent two weeks grokking on a pack of wolves who were feeding on spawned-out Salmon in the mouth of a river close to my cabin when I was in my early 20s.......That was stupendous.....I watched many wild animals.....Black Bear, Porcupine, Beaver, Elk, Moose, Sea-Lions, Otters.........and I'm sure that they allowed my presence because of my well-honed grokking ability.......It was a tribal thing in my youth......a Grokking tribe.......It's very sensual and be sexual.......I remember early on, I was grokking on a beautiful young man with a red beard.....and then he picked up on my grok and grokked right back.....we became lovers.

Perhaps - I simply responded to your words 'to feel the air, to not just live life - but to feel life, and in that moment, what may come to pass is all worth it'. In 'Elusive Butterfly' I'm in the moment, an active participant, feeling life. Dissecting/analysing the lyrics can come later. I am not just the one..moving past your window I am also the one waking up, and you are moving past my window.

Beautiful song. Another one to add to my list.

Grokking is radical empathy.....In the book, Smith (the stranger in a strange land, was a Martian....A Human who had been raised on Mars, where God is "One Who Groks" and all extant beings grok.

I knew what you meant..my point is the song has a "you" and a "me" I am not just the one..moving past your window I am also the one waking up, and you are moving past my window.

I try to imagine what heaven would be like.. and who I would see there.. I imagine meeting wood nymph dancing with singing chipmunks, doing the grok, and wondering why she he ever felt the need to be clothed...she is happy as a lark...Oh My God... she is a lark I see a lady, knitting and kneeding, for someone she would never hold..and wondering about Joe sitting on cloud somewhere i see a songbird, a lyricist no longer needing the lyrics. Who sings for those "down under" that can not hear her I see a man whose purpose no longer has a purpose. Where evil has been vanquished...Where leaves never change and fall off the trees.. where a leaf is always a leaf I see a thinking man now set in stone....with no need for philosophy and questioning.. asking himself what ever happened to fargo and crazyhorse and why are they not here? I really don't like this place, called heaven, In my perfect death, I prefer my messy life. LOL
