Who's accountable As we consider gun control, school safety, mental illness and try to put pressure on the Federal government and State governments to do something about what happened in Uvalde.. We miss the most important point about what was done in Uvalde..Not what did the federal government do, not what the State government did.. but what did the people and government of Uvalde do? Who's really accountable to the people of Uvalde? Uvalde's warning is not about a school shooting..It's about powerless marginalized people who have little or no control over their own local government and serving personnel. Who must exist in apathy, awaiting something bad to happen. Uvalde might as well be third world country, more Texan than American. |

Let this be a warning.. to those who believe prevention of these sort of things is ALL with the State and Federal government. Although it may be difficult to predict and prevent.. the unfolding events of the shooting in Uvalde..lends itself to severe criticism. Take heed from the warning and the hard lesson learned by the people of Uvalde. prevention never works.. after the event has already happened. Besides the shooter..who is really accountable for number of lives lost? So as you think it's not going to happen here.. and that you are not responsible for the prevention and mitigation of lives being lost. It's the responsibility of a government that is not YOU. It will be an especially sad day if it happens. Not because you didn't do enough that would have prevented it.. but because you didn't do all you could do to prevent it.

The day I heard about Uvalde it seemed absolutely unbelievable ... impossible ... not in the United States of America. Then within a day or so the names and pictures of the dead came out ... and the first thing that came to mind is "undocumented" .. but in Texas the word is illegal. Texas cops didn't think the school worth risking their lives over ... that's all there is to it. How you going to prevent that?

No one is "looking out" for those people.. They are indentured The police didn't go in because a policeman who 'plays ball' is much more of value/ tot the city than someone who doesn't. The police need orders from above to do anything.

"You're not gonna make Daffy Duck happy with excuses" old boy trump scum, probably but with Pavlov's dogs when the bell rings . no matter what think they salivate These policemen in Uvalde were chosen for not having a mind of their own.. they were chosen because they could be manipulated. They were chosen because they keep their mouths shut. Is that an excuse for them.. no.. but it not their fault either.. It's their qualifications for the job. it's a condemnation of those who hired them and run the city.
