New York (CNN Business)The Washington Post has suspended reporter David Weigel for one month without pay for retweeting a sexist joke, two people familiar with the matter told CNN on Monday.
Weigel did not respond to a request for comment, but an out-of-office reply from his Post email address said that he would return to work on July 5. Weigel apologized publicly last week for the retweet, saying he "did not mean to cause any harm."

WTF? first it was on Twitter, not the Post...besides the fact.. It's obviously a joke..
Having some fellow employee.. Check one's Twitter account to turn them in for being sexist?
This woman has so many corn cobs.. stuck up her ass.. she could lower the price of gasoline.

Rather extreme to suspend the reporter for one month without pay.

Kindness is not something you do...It's something you are..So I am as kind as kind, for me, can be.
I may yank some chains...write some nasty refrains
Not care as much as I should.. Not share as much as I could
not be respectful and be neglectful
At the end of the day. Kindness is not measure that way
My kindness I can satisfy, That no matter how hard I try
I can't pull the wings off a butterfly

Maybe the person who turned him in is bi-polar and has suffered every day of her life because of it....I have known people who are bi=polar and it's not a joke....anyone who thinks it is, is a degenerate idiot.....Suspend the reporter for a month without pay? "That woman has so many corn-cobs stuck up her ass........Maybe she has previous experience with the ass-holery of this guy and this was her last straw......Maybe she is a Bi-Polar single mom representative for her co-workers who have at last had it with the office jerk.

Call me a degenerate idiot for laughing good-naturedly at the 'sexist' joke - I didn't think it particularly unkind or lewd/that my take was light-hearted although I can see your point. It cuts both ways though, and women can be merciless in lambasting men. A little more understanding and tolerance by all parties would go some way towards diffusing tensions/flare-ups I would think. Perhaps the reporter is a jerk and needed to be pulled up/perhaps the woman has taken on a vigilante role and is quick to target those who supposedly fall within her firing line - who knows, but I think the matter could have been dealt with internally and less harshly.

First all your assumptions are not true.. check it out, if you don't believe me. google it

Second...It wouldn't matter if it was true.. The liberal idea of forgiving an action for cirumstances .. doesn't change the action. Doesn't change how it hurts someone. This causes liberals to not act swiftly, even if their action is obviously unjust.

So you can justify the action.....but I'll be damned if I let you excuse it or choose the wrong victim.

Here's my latest analogy.......the horse got out of the barn.......
So the farmer chases the horse.. puts him back in a stable and chastises the horse for getting out. Liberals do the same thing....You can forgive or not forgive the horse for being a horse.. like it natural for them to want to get out of the barn, Yet still, complain about the horse. for being the kind of horse that doesn't want to stay in barn. (horses are Trump supporters)
but my take is.... the horse isn't to blame.......It's that SOB the opened the barn door (Trump)

Well, I'm not surprised, having experienced your many blogs defending male assholery and your extreme comments on my blogs that you have interpreted as being prejudiced against males.........We don't know the past history or relationships of the people involved ......and I think it's very revealing that you chose this particular story out of the news cycle to defend a male who you perceive as being hard done by.......

I sure wouldn't want to work in an environment where that tweet was typical of the attitudes of co-workers.

I have a right to my opinion as does this woman who turned this man in..I think of it as joke.... she didn't think of it as a joke.. but what you don't seem to get is that she had to go search it out. Like a "Canadian Blog Mother".
My opinion, the writers intent, and the true meaning.. meant nothing to her..
For her, it didn't need to mean what it meant..there were bigger fish to fry...It provided a great insight into her not so insightfulness....and was simply a quixotic rant against windmills

So let me ask you ..
What makes you do it?
You are defending this woman on ground you know nothing about.
I asked you to check it out before you speak.. I did..why didn't you?

You are so fricken bigoted, it's unbelievable..
You don't need evidence.. all you need is prejudice to make allegations..
woman get the benefit of the doubt.. men are guilty before innocent

You know it's tiring people not using their mind, before opening their mouth

Yeah, you don't get it.. There i go, I said it again....Not because you don't get it.. you don't even try to get it.
Someone else is always the problem....When their problem is normally the same problem you have.

Women, men, and alternate genders...race...politics, policies, Canadians and Americans... It's only all different because YOU make it different.

I am disappointed in Americans....But YOU simply prove it's a worldwide problem.

American is not about a place it about a State of mind...We kind of agree about that... In as far a state of mind goes...If I was Canadian..I would say to you .. "there goes another stupid American"

Well, it then seems to follow that I also have a right to my opinion........Next, you assume you know the "true meaning" of the idiotic attempt at humour......including the intent of those who wrote it and passed it on.........

You assume that I didn't research the story because I disagree with your take.......I am continually mystified by the source of your arrogance.....I'm sick and tired of people refusing to take responsibility for their tweets because they didn't originate it......"It's only a re-tweet."..........A very Trumpian excuse........

I don't see the tweet so much as sexist, as a cruel and dismissive of serious mental illness.........That is my INFORMED opinion.......Your extreme responses to disagreement makes me wonder if you are yourself dealing with being bi.....Men are equally bi-polar and bi-sexual and I don't find that humorous either.

This guy was not like that...he in fact defended this same woman when she was accused of the same kind of thing.
He's a good guy.. who's laughter stop him him from thinking
He apologized.. not because it "saved him"..he was getting the thirty day suspension regardless.. even so this woman wanted him fired as an example.
He really felt bad about it.

His suspension will be over July 5th....He will move on with his life. supported by his colleagues. His colleagues, both men and women, knew what was wrong here.

The woman.....No longer works in the department.
Some things just aren't about gender.. It's about right and wrong.. and who's willing to admit it.

Well...Is see your point..I see why you don't think it's funny.

Don't tell me you checked it out.. you didn't

What you think is funny or not.. matters to you.. it doesn't matter to me
But what you find offensive..doesn't matter to me.. until you try to make it matter to me. And in turn offend me. You may not think it's funny.. but don't turn yourself into a joke. Sorry.. TOO LATE

Beside all that.. Why would you think it's funny?
You have never had a wife or a girlfriend.

Of course you don't get it....because you are bigoted and prejudice..You think the joke is on woman.. When in reality the joke is on men too. Trying to explain something men can't make sense of...And that puts the joke back on them. The joke isn't sexist... It's just about sex.

You wouldn't know a sexist remark.. if it hit over the head..

For example.... I am not offended because you are offended.
But it seems to me. it's typical for women to be offended.. Simply because i am not offended

I couldn't find much information on the incident so thanks for that.  The reporter obviously found himself in the crosshairs of his irked colleague.  I'm glad his co-workers also saw the injustice and continue to support him.  One month's suspension without pay is still a hefty penalty - is he the Washington Post's public sacrificial lamb/nod to 'political correctness' in this instance?  As a journalist, the former co-worker's self-righteous justification for her actions would have damaged both her credibility and integrity to some extent I would think (?).Â
