The Columbine Law

Although there was little change on gun control......law enforcement made a significant change after the Columbine shooting in 1999.

Working at a District IRS office we had to take a class on active shooter in the building.
The primary focus , was to tell employee to hide and do nothing.

Law enforcement has new guideline for an active shooter.. The police are told to take out the shooter is their ONLY function. The fear is not that employees would be harmed by the shooter.. but harmed by a focus police who's mission is to take out the shooter and employee not to get in their way

The police are not to consider any other function. Until the shooter is taken out.

Texas law enforcement obviously didn't get the message.

IMMEDIATELY with a a magic marker write on a full sized piece of paper. NO WEAPON then HIDE so if a cop opens the closet door you are hidden in they see it.

What we can guess about law enforcement in this area, Is a total lack of professionalism. Small towns in place like Oklahoma and Texas hiring is not based on training. It's a lot of nepotism and good old boy club.. There is a lack of local police financing..
It easy to understand the lack of police sensitivity training. when they don't even get tactical police training. I have no doubt that these police officers would have the courage to take out that shooter immediately.. My doubt is in their leadership and training and equipment... and in some cases their dedication.
