Racism that transcends politics

I have always judged the idea of racism as a matter of what one does and not what one thinks.. that the racists things one does ... falls on Republicans not Democrats.
But racism in the way one thinks, the way they we were brought up.. I can not tell a Democrat from a Republican..

I have come to realized the true nature of white racism..against blacks.. the true racism of our generation is in how we think.... It's in how I once thought.

It's hard to find the right example.. in a multitude of possibilities. What is the common example of Democrats and Republican. That can both indicate the problem and when fixing it, results in the cure.
In our generation of Republicans it's a given.. not so easy to understand with liberal democrats..
White men Democrats.. will say they believe in equality.. equal opportunity, they will protect a black man right to vote. right to inalienable human rights, to jobs and opportunities. That they have contributed to our great nation, that black have been oppressed and treated unfairly.. that the judicial system and law enforcement is biased.,and needs reform.
None of that would be a good non-political example..

But what is it? that is inherent in a white man of our generation that transcends political lines..... that can explain all you need you know about racism..
.
It's that they wouldn't want their to marry one.

It's not that ALL white men feel that way.. but i know most of them do.. It's a racial progression of acceptance.. More white men will accept an Asian, a jew, an Hispanic, or mixed race into their family.. more than they will a black man.

I have to agree...mostly. It does come down to what someone does much more than what someone thinks. A person may see someone drop a 20 dollar bill and race to pick it up when the person is gone and say nothing. What does that really say about the person? We have no way of knowing what effect, if any, guilt might have on that person. So what do you do with that question? That matters as well. Overt racist actions and statements are offensive, period. But the subtle and invisible motives, like discriminatory hiring practices, do so much damage and are hard to root out. So it's not enough really to look at racism in black and white ways. Perhaps you remember a famous comment made by Donald Rumsfeld who said during the war in Iraq, and I'm paraphrasing here...'you go to war with the army you have'. The question of body armor was of concern at the time. Rumsfeld's comment didn't go over well, but it took time for me to understand why so many were bothered by this when I didn't find fault with what he had said. The real problem was not the reality. It was the tone deaf characterization of the dilemma. This is the kind of thing that often entraps innocent people, or at least people who truly do not feel, or wish to ever come across as racist. They need the latitude to wrestle with guilt as well. But even in cases like this it boils down to judgment and whether or not a person should know better. That was the case with Rumsfeld, his arrogance muddied the waters and with lives on the line that felt insensitive, and even cruel to many. Racist statements are no different. They don't deserve a pass. I do not believe America is a racist nation. Yet, we have many racist citizens who continue to participate in the problem. Because of this we cannot grant a pass for systemic racist problems either. This is why I believe affirmative action still has a purpose, the voting rights act has a purpose (even in Detroit unfortunately), and institutional progress still has to be made across the board.

The best thing for America is to expose it with vigor, wherever it hides. Even if it takes millions in the streets to do it.

We live a time of transformation.. some find it unnerving as to which direction that transformation goes.. As those we could find as racist try to hang on..In many ways, they don't understand how in the long run..they not only can't succeed they promote the opposition.

How racism manifesst itself in individuals actions is the tip of the iceberg. really does no good to stop it or promote it, to end it or make it worse.

From the time of the first slave ship to now.. the true nature of racism is to segregate and isolate. We talk of assimilation, equality, and rights. When our simple ideas of a Black person.. negate all of that. the idea of segregation and isolation are not black people choices they are white people demands

I talk about how much i hate "labels" Labels exists not as as a matter of an increase understanding,, but a limiting factor of that which is being labeled. A liberal can't be truly defined by the label Liberal, a Conservative can't be defined by the label Conservative. and a black person can't be simply define as a black person.

One may define racism by the actions of racism.. one may define segregation and and isolation by the status of it...And one my define people by their labels

But what we do about it.. is talk the talk but not walk the walk.

Segregation and isolation.. is the key. it allows everything else to happen.. it limits first hand knowledge.. and promotes erroneous labels, as there appears to not be choices.

So what the point? Racism must have segregation and isolation. Not only as a matter of action .. but also a matter of thought. It's much easier to fear and hate something you don't know. Something you don't know because it's been purposely hidden from you.

Racists want make you believe who black people are. Isolation and segregation gives one no other choices. White non-racist people are forced to defend on ideals and principle..and NOT on the reality. It's a matter of some people being able to fear the unknown.. and people who don't. It's important to racists to keep black people UNKNOWN.

There has never been a time like this in our history.. Human being of any race are different there are good ones and bad ones.. so it is with blacks... The truth about black people has never been more exposed. For racists, it's no longer a hidden agenda of just the bad.. today, more so than ever, We are given first hand knowledge and choices about black people. It's not a matter of just ideals and principle.. It's real

And that transition ends racism.. and racists now can't do a damn thing about it.

From my perspective.. The mother of Jacob Blake..the man who was shot in the back in Wisconsin.
Did more to end racism in this country than all the protests combined.

Empathy doesn't stand alone.. it requires a connection. And black people have been purposely disconnected.

And now more than ever..We get to see the connection.. we get to see it all the time..Good black people doing good things. You add Obama to those things and it's the beginning of the end to racism.

WE may never be able to end racists.. but we can end racism.
