A Dark Day

The passing of Rith Bader Ginsberg, and Antonin Scalia is the END.. not the Beginning. Their disagreements were not really disagreeing, they were different points of view Their belief in institutions was undaunted. They had no argument that came to being right or wrong.
The only difference between the two.. was Justice Scalia's believed in the text of the Constitution and Ruth Bader Ginsbergs believed in the Principles of the Constitution.
In either case the Constitution was not a political document.. In both cases the current politics was in itself, anti-Constitutional. I have no doubts Scalia believed this.. He'd be rolling over in his grave with what's happening politically..Ruth Bader Ginsberg was actually a lot less strict about it.. she saw politics as a vehicle..NOT Her vehicle.. but America's vehicle. To adhere to the principles of the Constitution in changing times.

As long as judges tinker with the Constitution to 'do what the people want,' instead of what the document actually commands, politicians who pick and confirm new federal judges will naturally want only those who agree with them politically.
Antonin Scalia

If we gave our freedom as the price of security, we would no longer be the great nation that we are.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg

If you're going be a good and faithful judge, you have resign yourself the fact that you're not always going like the conclusions you reach. If you like them the time, you're probably doing something wrong.
Antonin Scalia

We live in an age in which the fundamental principles to which we subscribe - liberty, equality and justice for - are encountering extraordinary challenges, ... But it is also an age in which we can join hands with others who hold those principles and face similar challenges.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg

They say one bad apple can spoil the barrel.. That has never been the case in America. America healed the "bad apples" in it's barrel.. A Ruth Bader Ginsbergs and Antonin Scalia could heal the "Bad Apples".. not as enemies but as friends.
That was the job of the Supreme Court.. That was their duty. It was their common goal and the basis of their friendship.
Now that they are gone.. That goal and that friendship no longer exist. Who's left to "heal" the Supreme court.. because that's what they did.

Both would agree we put a "bad apple" at the top of the American barrel. But that was the easy one to solve.. they didn't have to do anything. The barrel was still safe.. What they didn't see was, not the top barrel, but the bottom of the barrel.. and the rot that was festering there.

It doesn't matter if you disagree with the rot on the top.. the barrel is being squeezed from the bottom. The barrel is rotting and their is nothing you can do about it.
We are being squeezed by the "rot" of the Progressive movement..and the "rot" of Trump's Republicans. The barrel for us all is now UNSAFE..
