Testing

Whether someone is on the left or Right there are agreements.
The agreement that the economy needs be opened.
For most the Right the agreement that there needs be testing.

I have never heard a person say that the control of this virus doesn't need\ better and more testing.

Control the virus ......Open the economy.. virtually 100% agreement.

From day one of the appearance of this virus..The severity of the problem has been a result of testing...when the virus first appeared in China...the first goal of the entire planet should have been testing.. Developing testing for the protection of your own country.. and your economic value any other country that would experience the epidemic..
In December... other than normal research for the United States the entire additional research on this virus should have been testing.
In regard personal protection equipment PPE's...or supplies such as ventilators.. The need to develop was not as great.... The problem being was that the virus occurred in China.. which produces most of those types of things.. We weren't going to develop something NEW ..
Testing of the virus, however would have been a NEW development. The country that developed it, built a better mouse trap..... would have done two things.. protect themselves from the epidemic and receive an incredible economic advantage..

We failed from day one to read the signs and develop TESTING. to sell our new and better testing to the world.
We failed on day two.. when the virus arrived..To have not developed TESTING.. To identify and isolate and surveil contacts to stop the spread. Instead of that, we went to social distancing and shutting down the economy.

During this time.. the amount of testing available..was not even sufficient to test those who had SYMPTOMS...WE increased testing, as SYMPTOMS Increased.. To the current situation that we can test everyone who has significant SYMPTOMS.

The irony was for the last month.. testing to determine who has significant symptoms.....IS USELESS... We do not need a test for that.. as the SYMPTOMS now describe the diseases..Due to the nature of social distancing, hospitalizations, and fear. People with significant symptoms do NOT spread the virus.

It's the asymptomatic people that are spreading virus.. people who don't know they are severely sick...To stop the spread.. contact surveillance of those who are severely sick.. is an absolutely necessary. Isolating and quarantining asymptomatic people necessary to control the virus..

WE do NOT have the necessary testing to test asymptomatic people. We are trying to develope better testing and more testing..But we are five months too late.

It's absurd, peoples reactions.. which appear to be political...
it's an agreement... that people want to disagree about..

Those that think the economy should be opened.. just need to do ONE THING..
get their government to develope and supply testing..
That's it.. Do that and then open the economy..
Decide who is responsible for it..... Protest...those that are responsible....about how THEY are preventing the opening of the Economy. if you can't decide who's responsible.. make everybody responsible.

THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED IN EUROPE WHERE THE DISEASE HIT VERY HARD. AND TO MAKE THINGS BETTER, THERE ARE STILL NOTHING LIKE ENOUGH TESTS FOR THE ILL OR THE ASYMTOMATIC. PLUS NOTHING LIKE ENOUGH MASKS OR GEL. TOTAL, MASSIVE OCCIDENTAL BUNGLING. WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF OURSELVES.

Good read Cricket and I agree wholeheartedly. I had been optimistic when they rolled out testing in a Walmart parking lot. I had every expectation we would do even better than South Korea. I read where in China they had home test kits where people tested twice daily. We STILL need that and I'm talking about something that can be done until we actually have a vaccine. We have a national emergency to produce that ASAP. I don't think anything short of that is really acceptable.

I highly recommend you check out the John Hopkins interactive map. That is fantastic with a lot of great info. You can drill down to your own neighborhood, right down to the number of ICU beds. If we could only get people to just watch this instead of listening to Trump everyone would be better prepared to do what we must, and have a grasp for what has to happen next. We've got a LONG way to go here and those protests are just going to make it worse.

This thing is returning in the fall....we will be opening way too soon and its going to get out of control again....the new normal won't be enough...and we are going to FAIL to restructure this economy. We are in for 10 years of struggle.

Study: Rate Of Coronavirus Infections In LA Up To 55 Times Higher Than Confirmed Cases

LOS ANGELES — Confirmed coronavirus cases only tell a portion of the story in any area, but a new study out of Los Angeles County has come to a startling conclusion. Based on the first round of antibody testing, 4.1% of the county’s entire adult population has already come into contact with the virus and developed an antibody.

After adjusting for statistical margin of error, that means anywhere from 221,000 to 442,000 local adults in Los Angeles have been infected by the coronavirus. That number is 28 to 55 times higher than the 7,994 confirmed COVID-19 cases in LA at the time the study was conducted earlier this month.

This research, performed by the University of Southern California, has a number of implications. Besides just documenting how widespread the coronavirus has become, it also suggests a lower fatality rate. As of today there have been just over 600 COVID-19 related deaths in Los Angeles county.

“Though the results indicate a lower risk of death among those with infection than was previously thought, the number of COVID-related deaths each day continues to mount, highlighting the need for continued vigorous prevention and control efforts,” explains Paul Simon, chief science officer at the L.A. County Department of Public Health and co-lead on the study, in a release.

“We haven’t known the true extent of COVID-19 infections in our community because we have only tested people with symptoms, and the availability of tests has been limited,” adds lead investigator Neeraj Sood, professor of public policy at the USC Price School for Public Policy and senior fellow at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. “The estimates also suggest that we might have to recalibrate disease prediction models and rethink public health strategies.”

Antibody tests can detect past infections, but PCR tests are the only way to identify an active case right now.

To come to these conclusions, drive-thru antibody testing sites were set up at six locations across LA county on April 10th and 11th. Tested locals were gathered from a database that is representative of the county’s population.

While these findings have not yet been peer-reviewed, the study’s authors plan to continue testing more residents in the coming weeks to get a better idea of the coronavirus’ spread throughout Los Angeles.

“These results indicate that many persons may have been unknowingly infected and at risk of transmitting the virus to others,” comments Barbara Ferrer, director of the L.A. County Department of Public Health. “These findings underscore the importance of expanded polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to diagnose those with infection so they can be isolated and quarantined while also maintaining the broad social distancing interventions.”

We talk of mitigation.. stopping the spread.. Testing provides the greatest amount of mitigation..
For the most part symptomatic people self isolate.. and expose only their caregivers..
Isolating symptomatic people is not sufficient to stop the spread.
The choice to either isolate the country from asymptomatic people by social distancing and closing businesses... or isolating asymptomatic people from the country. Testing is required to isolate asymptomatic people. We are doing the former and need to be doing the latter

This not a cure.. it's a mitigation.....The cure is up the road.... we just have to get there.

I don't think you understand the mindset of that evil son of a bitch..

You think it makes a damn bit of difference to him..if he lets the virus runs it course or mitigates the damage..

The fact is this virus would be over sooner... if you let it runs it course..
But either way it's going to over... Trump hasn't done a single thing to mitigate that hasn't been a politcal play or lined his own pockets. He will claim victory when it's over no matter what happens.

Trump is an evil son of bitch because he doesn't care about other people.. he cares about himself..

it's beyond belief for any rational person to think ianything but dangerous and evil..
Trump orchestrates the destruction of his presumed enemies.. The means he uses holds no value to him for his own purposes or beliefs. In this case Trump doesn't stand behind the protesters. He's in front of them..The protesters, unknowlingly and unwillingly, stand behind Trump's purposes not their own

The best example is in Michigan and Gretchen Whitmer, the Governor.. Trump is orchestrating an unmerciful attack on her, and on the Democrat Party in the State of Michigan.. No matter WHAT you may think of Gretchen Whitmer. Trump is "russian" to influence you..
Every goverfnor is at his mercy..For governors there are no right answers..So every answer can be attacked.
Every governor, except Gavin Newsome of the California nation State, is being attacked to conform with Trump's Federal authority. That is entirely political in nature.
Trump's presidency is base on lies, manipulations, propaganda, and LEVERAGE. Leverage that need not be applicable.. but simply a THREAT.

Barr and Trump are not supporting protesters..They are LEVERAGING governors..
Barr's statement had to due with the DOJ's prosecution of Governors.., who actions COULD be considered ILLEGAL. With Trump ability to prosecute governors., and determine legality of their actions, Trump is applying leverage for Governors to conform to him..It's dangerous and it's evil.
