Love is a bag of Jelly Beans

God gave us each a bag of Jelly Beans..
Different colors and flavors compare.
But they weren't ours eat
They were just ours share.

I offered some a
she said...the reds fine
I'll take all you have
but you can't have any of mine

I met a young lady with a beautiful
And offered her a taste.
She said.. I don't want the black ones
I hate licorice

I showed them a woman
and she began count.
She said.. You just don't have enough jelly beans
In your Jelly Bean ..

Now an bag. colors faded and few.
So I my Jelly Beans on the shelf
If nobody wants share
I'll just have eat them myself..

A sad and somewhat cynical look at life, but one with some good lessons too.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Perhaps an additional verse?
And then I met a woman like myself,
who also had some left.
She said, "Let's pool our Jelly Beans,
and together, we'll enjoy the rest."

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

yes.. It's cynical... yes, we totally agree...See we can understand each other.and it seems something strange happens when Jelly Beans lose their truer Meaning..

From a Young MAN's perspective.......I'm too old Now..
The "I'm-moral" of the story....(sorry for the language)

"If you "don't f*ck'.. with my Jelly Beans.. then I'm just going to have to try and f*ck with yours.."

Yes cynical, unwise, and self centered..Typical male ego...Who just convince themselves.. that the chicken came before the egg... even a 'bad" egg has got to get "laid"
I think when most men read this poem...their first thought is.... WTF does jelly beans have to with it?. Women will disagree too, especially after reading this response and hearing it with their Virgin Ear Syndrome.. which is the only thing "Virgin" about them.

When the truth about the "cynicality" (I like making up words) and my meaning...is What's good for the goose is good for the gander..
So LOVE only works when you can eat each others "Jelly Beans" without complaint..and just enjoy it. Feel the butterflies..that soon will be gone..It's all just "Jelly Belly's"...

Okay.. I'm an observer.. about how a person eats.. is the way the person thinks..
So you are given a handfull of Jelly beans..all different colors.. how do YOU go about eating them.. Do you eat the ones you like least first and then save the ones you like best til last.. do you only eat the one you like the best and then decide to either eat or throw the others away.. Or do you.. Balance out the colors so you have one of each left at the end. Or are you just a pig.. and throw them all in your mouth at the same time??LOL

I don't eat jelly beans or offer them to others.....I did some research on them when my kids were little and they are basically poison.........from the huge amount of highly refined sugar, the gelatin from processed hooves to truly horrific chemicals used as colour and flavour......there are no nutrients, no ingredients worth ingesting.........and knowing that, no pleasure in eating them and no desire to have any........

I used this argument in a class on negotiation......LOL.......All the other students loudly protested my argument, saying the jelly-beans were a metaphor.......but I say that the quality of a metaphor is imperative in a negotiation......It doesn't work if the purpose of the metaphor is to symbolize something of worth and the other party perceives it as worthless..........I know.....if the position of Devil's Advocate was still a Papal appointment, I would win hands down.....

Ahhhh...... choices, choices~~

I wonder what it would say about my life choices if I said that I eat one of my favourite 'jelly beans', slowing pick through eating the rest, but saving the rest of my favourites until last.

Do I share my jelly beans? Of course!! ...but rarely my favourites!! LOLOLOL

Yes ... thanks for explaining that.

I think the metaphor is that jelly beans.. in your hand are pretty worthless... OWNING that which is worthless.. is also the metaphor for love. So jelly beans (a thing) and love are worthless if you have it and don't give it up..there's nothing better than passing out your jelly beans.. Try it you'll like it

Kind of like beauty.. jelly beans are in the eye of the beholder..
So jelly beans and love can be worthless to YOU.. but the irony is.
Jelly beans and love.. If someone else wants it.. You won't give it up

Even though you may not like jelly beans.. Your love is always better than someone else's....And even though you don't eat jelly beans... it's only because you can't have them.. and nobody is going to eat your jelly beans either. Nobody likes a jelly bean whoarder. LOL

very good....If you make up your mind before hand..you miss out on a lot of jelly beans...
People forget that tastes change...You never know it.. If you don't try it..

The simple idea that jelly beans are not good for you..Is a perfect analogy about Love.. If you GOT to think about it...love ain't GOOD for for....If you have to decide about it...,..One bad taste... makes all jelly beans a bad taste..

Not thinking about love is disastrous.........as can be witnessed by the number of people who burned and crashed on the "Love" on the internet freeway.........People were in love with the idea of love and projected it onto people they had never met.......Boom!!!!....

The idea of romantic love as is represented in modern western culture is a fairly recent concept and is complicated greatly by sexual feelings and a whole mountain of thoughts and emotions that can cluster and be labeled as "Love"..........Using sweetness as a metaphor for Love is a scourge in the western world and has caused, or greatly contributed to the obesity and diabetes epidemic......

" but, "By Jiminy", a Jelly Bean can't be a metaphor" I

well.... you obviously have problems.. thinking like i do... LOL

It's really not about what it is... It about what it does.....

Everybody needs to think more about what a pee-can do.. and less about what a pee can't do...... To say it Depends.. Means you don't have any Depends....and you'd just as soon piss all over yourself.

Love as a bag of jelly beans is a bad metaphor and the ambulance isn't for you, it's for the metaphor you are performing life-saving techniques on.......

Well I shouldn't have said a "Bad" metaphor..????

I should have asked you .. what is a "good" metaphor???

I know it's hard to comprehend my idea of duality.... But it's simply a matter of perception instead of reality.. it's comparative and not absolute.

A bad metaphor for one could be a good metaphor for someone else.

I don't disagree about your idea that jelly beans are a bad metaphor for YOU.. but your narrow mindedness to believe.... you get to decide for others, by an explanation.. that only matters for YOU. Explaining a metaphor, like it's an absolute is ABSURD.
