Scorched Earth...

A scorched earth is what I see
devastation by wind and fire
To think of what's to be
And what is God's desire

Sodom and Gomorrah, and Jericho
Where wind and fire can be found
And did they reap what they sow
when the walls came tumbling down

A return to bygone days
And God's gift of being alive
And thinking only of the ways
One must live to survive

And what became of lately
When what goes, comes around
Have we sinned do greatly?
The walls must tumble down.

And when there's only ashes left
what will happen then?
Will God's , become bereft
And have "time", to start over again?

I was thinking...

Not about the lives lost, and the property damage.

But the fine wines, destroyed by wind and fire and just as important, destroyed by people in fine clothes, and fine statues of fine men, of a fine time, and of the "fine people" who marched in Charlottesville
And will I have time to see the vines grow back again?
Will I taste the fine wines again... Or will the fine whines drown them out.
For just a sip of life again, to ponder how great it is... to stop and smell the roses Or only to be destroyed by those who want to drink it all. So no one else gets a taste, . Or the prohibitionists, who believe its wrong to be drunk on the power of wine, and if everybody can't have it, then no one gets it.
Either way.... the vines will never be the same....

Right now wind and fire are scorching the vineyards on the West Coast. The vineyards will recover on the West Coast, Charlottesville and beyond.
