This Old Town

A rewrite I wanted to save, changed so people may better understand the meaning i intended.

There was a place I was from
Just an old worn out town
That is, until some people came
and decided to just “tear it down”

Those people only saw what's wrong
And just couldn't let it be
Their sticking noses had to grow long
And what they saw, others had to see

I miss the building, the old wood frames
I miss the streets, that went both ways
I miss the people and their names
And wonder what happened to the "good old days"

This old town may not have been Great
but, this old town was never that bad
It was built upon both love and hate
And we shared them both, it's what we had

Now it's gone, and one can find
Amongst the ruins and the rubble.
The love that's lost, the hate that's found
Was "tearing it down" worth all that trouble?

I meant this to mean more of a political statement. when originally written,
Maybe it's clearer now.
