Turn out the Lights I wrote my first poem a few years back after a divorce, It's was wordy and lenghty, After reading it today I decided to rewrite it more concise, yet say the same thing. You could make my heart smile With The light in your eyes, The gifts that you gave An unexpected surprise A youthful view of love flawed, but not seen Not caring where it's going Not understanding where it's been It happened in a moment Changed our life forever. You saw, that other's see Love's an incomplete endeavor For is it not true, about what others see If they're not envious of you, why would you need me You stopped saying I love you Yet I never thought, I was bad Until the day you expected better of me. And me was all I had. |
