Faith

Again I'd like to thank someone(obviously can't mention who, but you know who you are), for inspiring me to gather my own thoughts. I believe our best teachers are not those that we assimilate their knowledge, but allow us to question our own knowledge, and interpet our own ideas. I wrote another blog response that I wish to share with everyone, and save for myself.

"Faith is personal, It is defined by the diversity in faith, not in the commonality.
Those that need to have agreement in their faith, have no faith at all.
It is not faith that defines that the sky is blue or the grass is green. It is our commonality of that belief that make it true. Faith by definition, is a belief in that which is unproven.
If agreement in ones belief is needed to define the truth of ones faith, then that truth is not faith.
The strength of ones faith is not the persuasion of others, it is in your own peace of mind. The truth of ones faith, is in how it makes you feel, not how it makes others feel.

One of the greatest conflicts in the bible is spreading the word of God. For in religion this has been interpreted to mean converts. Over the course of humanity, this idea has evolved to mean religion's self preservation. I do not believe this is what the bible intended. Spreading the word of God is not about converts...it's about exposing those unexposed to God's wisdom and love.

What an interesting post..! And what calming forces at work in the depths. Is it a a prayer?

...interesting to note how this blog post removed the previous, "the politics of health care reform" blog post from the cue.

- There's a Truth out there somewhere!
