not a foot to stand on

in mid april 2008, i had a slight disagreement with my way of life, particularly pertaining to diabetes, which i had for the previous 4 years too. i developed a 'what seemed' to be a bit of a foot rash that i constantly picked at, it would ooze a bit, i used hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol with gauze wrappings in order to heal it , but to no avail - i ended up with a foot ulcer, going into hospital emergency, where after a few hours and some foot x-rays, the doctor told me ' your foot is going to be amputated IF you do not get it healed up in a few weeks' - i got intravenus antibiotics and insultin shots, the whole 9 yards - while resting in the hospital's emergency ward, i slept most of the day, i dumped my guts out too - i was as sick as a dawg, only wanting a dose of cyanide to end it all, i felt ROTTEN to the core.

as time went by, and i was released from the hospital after bout 4 or 5 days, i got much better, so did my foot, and as of this writing, i'm still looking after myself, changing foot wrappings - taking my glyberide and metphormine tabs daily with meals, checking my blood usually 3 times / day.

it took all the above in order to get me to wake up - pity isn't it ? yes it is - don't fall into the same as i did

Hello Jack, Nice to meet you. I must tell you not to give up. I hope you do take care of your foot. At the same time, I please ask you to watch your diet carefully. My father had diabetes and he was admired for the strict diet he always followed. This helped him a lot.
Be well, and let us know how you are doing.
Maria

Maria / Miles, hello to you and thank you for such consideration - i have learned my lesson well (i hope) by following a carefully what i eat and watching my glucose levels daily on the meter and keeping records of all readings - however, i was informed that since i'm on the 'thinner' side, i am a good candidate for receiving insulin injections in the future, however, i take my pills for now, as required, and yes, foot is almost healed now!
