Winter Rose Photo by Kate Maree A red rose in the winter, bent Laden with frosty load Snowstorms and blizzards came and went Leaving all in white coats Missing the sun's tender rays Their nursing warmth, bereft The rose, its life slipping away Struggles for all that's left Snow and sleet with freezing cold At last the end is nigh For the rose, so valiant and bold It is time to die But, when winter ends and spring arrives With it the gentle rains When shoots and buds begin to thrive The rose shall live again Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |

Hi Lee, When I saw the title of your blog I guessed it was a nice poem, and it was. We have a yellow rose in our back garden that lives on until Christmas and I feel sad about it. Do you know the song "The last Rose of Summer" Very said but beautiful.

Hi Classy Lady, Thanks for the winter rose and the snow. It is always sad when a rose dies. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Hi neela, Women, like the rose, are at their most beautiful when in full bloom but the bloom slowly fades. Do you notice that like the rose, women are also strong and resilient? Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Do you know the song "The last Rose of Summer" Very said but beautiful. Thank you. I like yellow rose too but over here, it is a bit difficult to look after. Maybe, it is too hot. Is yours "The last rose of summer"? Never mind, it will bloom again come spring. I have never heard of the song but just googled and found that it was a poem by Thomas Moore and one of the best-loved songs of Ireland. Hi Rose, Thank you for the comment and the poem. I have never seen a winter rose too till I come across this picture. Have you ever wondered that you are also a "winter rose"? Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Such a nice poem. Reminds me how I missed the snow 2 weeks ago, I just flew back to KL from London and then it snowed in London after I left. Didn't see any red roses either.

Glad to see you again. Aah, but there was a whiterose in London and it did not snow because the white rose is not a winter rose.
