Thunderstorm Ominous clouds in downcast sky Lightning flashes, thunderclaps Reverberate, as rain clouds cry Falling rain, round us, wraps Rattling harsh, the window pane Fighting to get within The howling wind, amid the rain Raises one raucous din Endless raindrops splash and splatter Drenching the drowning street Spraying mists of real fine water On bare and covered feet Sodden flowers, nodding their heads Trees, with their wide boughs bent Soaking all, as the cloudburst spreads Violent, without relent Raging torrents, down mountainside Rumbling, wild and free Swollen rivers and sea collide In choppy estuary Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |

A poem to 'whet' my appetite for a little rain. We haven't seen any meaningful rain out here in the arid regions of Oz for almost twelve months now. I like the sentiment behind the poem though and the image that it conjures in my mind

Great poem. The storm yesterday afternoon in KL was amazing. My laundry room turned into a paddling pool, and the lightning knocked out the auto arms on our security gate. >shirl327 .......... we are in the middle of the SW monsoon, it started early and it has rained virtually every day for the last 43 weeks with violent storms. As I type this the KL skyline is disappearing in rain clouds. But they have forecast some bad haze to come this year

Forgot to say that the plants on my balcony are taking swimming lessons and will soon be developing gills

shirl327 , the rain is normal for April on west coast, as its the change of monsoon, we are getting the interseason one from the SW. In May it will start getting hot and dry....... and then the haze! We got the SMART tunnel in KL now, which helps........although causes major traffic jams when it closes!

Thank you all for your comments. Now that you know the rainy season is in full swing, the thunderstorms here are a sight to behold. I once watched a placid mountain stream turn into a raging monster during a thunderstorm and it scared me. Anyway, if any of you were to see plants with gills happily swimming your way, they belong to whiterose and you can notify her here in SFF.
