There was once a cricket

There was once a cricket
Who, somehow, obtained a ticket
To watch a game of cricket
In the city of Nantucket

But his stepmother, so wicked
Who dislikes this little cricket
Decided to throw away the ticket
Into the dirty waste basket

Alas, the floor of parquet
Was not well-laid and crooked
And so the stepmother, so wicked
Fell and kicked the bucket.

Lee

Note:
This is inspired by a beautiful poem, The Cricket, written by my friend, summer, and is written in jest. Darn, I am in one of those silly moods again.

Hi Katie,
Thanks for finding it funny. It has been an unpleasant two days for me so I need to write something silly to get it out of my system.

Hi summer,
A sequel? No, yours is much better. I needed to write something silly and then I remembered your kuliglig and the words just flowed out. I hope you don't mind.

Ah, poor little cricket......... but a deserved ending for the wicked stepmother. Hope stepson cricket was able to get the ticket out of the waste basket in time to see the other crickets playing.... yes cricket!

Sorry to hear you've had a bad 2 days. I was in Krabi last few days, free AirAsia ticket No crickets there on the menu, but in north Thailand there are plenty of crickets and other insects on sale to eat.... and yes, I have tried them! The bamboo worms are my favourite.

Hi whiterose,
Crickets and bamboo worms? Ugh! But I heard these insects are very crispy and tasty, and nutritious too, with protein and minerals. Read an article lately that they intend to breed bugs in spaceships to feed the astronauts because there's no way they can rear chickens, goats or cows in spaceships. Oh, about the cricket ......

The cricket went on a junket
To the city of Nantucket
To watch a game of cricket
Paid out of his father's pocket
