Photo Monday This animal caused a furore in my country recently. An Australian company used it in an advertisement and some of the people mistook it for a pig which is taboo for Muslims. Do you know what it is? It is a bat - a wombat. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |

Wild wombats have sharp claws and teeth and can get agressive but some are tameable and can be petted. They also have a curious way of killing dingos (wild dogs) that attack them. They let the dingo follow them down their hole, then with their hard bony rear plate at their back end they let the dingo bite almost near their back, then crush the dingos' head by lifting their rear legs up onto the roof of their hole, either that or they break their jaw or choke them death. Dont hit one with a car, they are very solid and do a lot of damage to the car. Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I'm sure I must have seen one in a zoo before but I couldn't remember either seeing it or it's name. Interesting looking little guy. I wonder how one would look in my back yard as a pet? Spiritwoman ^i^

Thank you, mrsjoe. The wombat does look like a pig but for its large tail. I am glad that Joe is better . Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Thank you, Roxy. The wombat is found only in Australia so a lot of people have not even heard about it. The one in the photo is the first wombat I have seen. The Australian company apologised, explained that it is a wombat and not a pig and removed the advertisement. Business people act differently. This is my first wombat,sw, and I saw it in the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Queenslan. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past
