Hi Rosie, The house is actually under renovation. The floor has been dug up and the house raise and put on stilts. Bill is right: they may be building a ground floor of cement or glass. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Thanks for the comment, MySeek. I will try but I hope the renovation is completed before I leave for home. However, I have noticed that a house with a with a storage space / garage beneath and the Irving quarters above is quite popular here in Australia. Here in Georgia we see a lot of houses in the countryside up on cement blocks. I had never seen that before moving here. Someone told me she figured because of the summer heat it helps keep the house cooler and probably built before most everyone had air conditioning. There are also a lot of "shotgun houses", a door in the front and one in the back, straight through. It also helps to keep the house cooler when the doors are open. A tour guide said you could shoot a shotgun straight through, hence the name. Elvis Presley grew up in a shotgun house.
