Bougainvilleal Camouflage.
Two photos of bougainvillea plants at a small Italian village. The plants have climbed up the walls to cool the houses and add colour to them as well.

 Wild and free just like I like my plants but bougainvillea can get way out of control very quickly. Personally I love it but know of folks who wouldn't have it due to it's invasive nature.

You are right and I think its invasive roots reinforce the walls of the old buildings.
