Foto Friday - The Orchid Tree

While on a recent walk to my surprise
I came across the world's first orchid tree;
Perhaps I'll win the coveted Nobel prize
For this magnificent discovery.

That's what I was wondering, Lee....is it an orchid? Air roots and all...sure looks like it. Great series....thanks much.

Hi mrsjoe,

What? You mean it's not an orchid tree? There goes my one chance of winning the Nobel prize. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Maybe is one of many species of orchids, isn't it? Nice pictures, Lee.

Thank you all for the comments.

Yes, it is an orchid that's considered to be wild by us because the small white crescent-shaped flowers are not that attractive and it is very common, anchoring itself on tree trunks and branches and anywhere where it can get sunlight and its aerial roots can absorb nutrients. The one shown is anchored on a dead palm tree.

Hi peggy,

I will try but it may take a while for me to climb the palm tree since I am not as agile as before.
