Chatroom Paranoia? Or Persecutory Delusions?

I had every intention of leaving blogland and going back to the chatroom until this morning. I went into a room and the discussion was centered around online romances. Having had one of those that didn't exactly turn out the way it was suppose to I asked a member who supposedly met her husband on line what the experience was like. She immediately confronts me and says I am someone that I seem to get confused with a lot there. I tried to explain that I have enough trouble keeping up with myself let alone conducting some conspiracy. Apparently this June2orig didn't buy that and continued to rant about how bad I am (This gib person) Which I am not but if he has people like her that don't like him I am looking forward to meeting him.

It appears that so many chatroom people are suffering from persecutory delusions and paranoia. So many believe that everyone is conducting some sort of conspiracy theory. A clinical explanation of this delusional feeling validates my thought as the affected person totally believes he or she is being persecuted. I could go on and on but all you have to do is read the blogs and you see what I'm saying.

So bloggers, you are stuck with me and the chatters can beat up on someone else. Maybe this Gib person can come back and replace me

Lots of folks are getting upset over nothing much. Pity, don't you think? Makes for rough going sometimes.

Shannon,
Glad that you're sticking around.
I think diverse opinions make the room interesting.
I'm assuming that some of your remarks are 'tongue in cheek', so I often have a good chuckle.
Take care!

Shannon, I was there to see the confrontation this morning. It was ugly. I didn't join in as it was none of my business and it was much too early to argue LOL.

I think you are wrong. I don't think this small group of people suffers any persecutory delusions or paranoria. I feel they are the persecutors. They pick a victim and attack with unbelievable venom over some imagined slight or slip of the tongue. I say 'they'. Believe me it's only a very few individuals.

Having a crystal ball I'll tell you what will happen next. There will be a blog appear naming you as a bully and persecutor of women. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

All I can advise is to laugh, have a Budweiser and continue doing what you feel is right. Don't let one, two, three or four people chase you out of chat, blogland or anywhere else you care to be.

One of the most interesting things about the old Soviet Union was the number of people who were deemed to be insane. Same thing appears to happening in our immediate venue. You see if you don't like what someone says, declare them insane. Makes you look good and them, well unstable.

The empty soap box continues to be sound booth for those with the least to say in the most words possible. Volume without substance. I've had my run ins with these people and I'm sure I will again. How high strung they must be to take flight at the slightest imagined counter opinion. Shrill, vacuous, quantity over quality, octopus like attacks in the hopes that something of theirs will actually stick.
Their sensibilities again restored, they breathe deeply and await the next imagined attack. And they live among us.
