Unclogging the Clogging.

Well, well, it seems 17 blogs a day is too many for one person to post. Over 30 comments posted on my little collection and not one supporting my DEMOCRATIC RIGHT to post as many and as often as I choose.

I wonder would 16 have been acceptable ? "No" ? How about 15 ? " No." 14 then ? 13 ? A dozen ? 11 ? 10 ? 9 ? 8 ? 7 ? How many then ? In my experience at Sff Blogville I've seen several members post five or six or more blogs a day. Whenever any member has remarked to those people that they considered that practice to be inconsiderate, rude and greedy, there are always DO GOODERSthat get on the protesting members back and give their blessing and full unequivocal backing to the CLOGGER.

e.g. " Happy: If you want to post something on YOUR blog, You just go ahead & do it!! If it upsets anyone, THEY Don't have to come in & read it. thatbillguy.

" BC...go ahead...you can have my blog "space"...i enjoy it... I think this is your blog. I think you are the "Poster" here. willymakit

On Thursday last, a relative newcomer to Blogville, bchappycamper, posted five blogs simultaneously. Although this woman had only been blogging for nine days, she had already posted 17 blogs in the previous eight days. She was clearly starting to find her feet by that stage as was indicated by her upping her QUOTA to five a day.

Quite reasonably I think, I began to suspect that she would continue posting at a rate of five, or maybe more, endlessly recycled items every day, if left to her own devices. So I wrote a comment on her blog titled advising her that what she was doing would not be considered kosher by many at Sff. It attracted two responses (see above) that supported her right to clog but none that concurred with my viewpoint. The woman herself proferred a quasi-apology couched in sarcasm.

That episode then, was the catalyst for for the disruptive action I took last night to forcefully illustrate a point. I dont regret what I did, but I do deeply regret that I should have felt the need to do it.

In my opinion, anyone coming to Sff and multi-posting should be let know straight away that their behaviour in unacceptable to the vast majority of their fellow bloggers. I acknowledge that most clogging is
effected due to ignorance on the perpetrator's part of blog etiquette, as observed by the majority. In that circumstance, the offender should quickly be redeemed of such ignorance and made cognizant of the unwritten, but implicit rules, that most bloggers strictly adhere to.

Some of the comments on my CLOGS were of an insulting nature, but I chose not to take offence. But there is one respondent that I suggest might be well served by issuing a retraction of some of her remarks.

I would like you to know that I support you in your protest. There are some "wishy-washy," "democratic rights" supporters who don't seem to understand, or maybe don't want to understand, what a pain in the arse clogging is on SFF. Maybe this kick in the butt will help them understand. I hope you're carrying on with the protest today.

...oh by the way fatsally...is there something wrong with being a "poster" as you called me? I thought it was desirable to have peeps comments on your blogs...maybe that's just me, but if it's not a good thing, let me know...and sorry for the typos in the last "post"

"I am wondering why Hawk is carrying on about democratic rights protesting? Geez, thought we were one big happy family?"

I mentioned democratic rights, because some bloggers are claiming that cloggers have a democratic right to post as many blogs in a day as they want. The cloggers may be exercising their democratic rights, but they certainly aren't exercising their brains cells.

Kewl, you made your point. Like the poetry by the way.

I am still perplexed why a person, whose past blog contribution consisted of three cut and paste poems, would suddenly become the self-appointed guardian of archetype.

My comments were acerbic and were made in the true spirit of democracy. Democracy, in all its glory, is not intended to be linear, logical, cheap, or the source of absolute truth manned by angels, saints or virgins.

Since lothringa posted his poll "Is Multiple-blogging Fair to All?" I think it would be fair to say there has been a decrease in multiple-blogging, with a few exceptions. Most of the exceptions were "newbies," and I would attribute that to ignorance versus a deliberate affront. Democracy is only a true democracy when it is regulated by the people.

Your onslaught Friday night not only made a buffoonery of
"democratic right," but it also insulted the collective intergrity of SFF. Your one-woman action baStardized the ideals of self-regulation. There are valid ways of exercising protest. Becoming "part of the problem" as one member stated, is not one of them.

Democracy is the only system capable of reflecting the premise of equilibrium or balance. I have faith in the collective articulation of the SFF bloggers to maintain this balance. Your action clearly demonstrated an inability to grasp, never mind aspire to that model.

Anyone who wants to see a list of ALL the new blog entries at any time just has to click on "View All". There are only twenty recent entries on the front page so I would think most members click on "View All" anyway to see what else has been written that day.

If someone wants to post numerous entries in one day, SFF says it is o.k. so why is it considered to be a violation of some unwritten blog etiquette code? I mean how many jokes and cut and paste are too many--one, five, twenty?
